A TRIBUTE (AND THANK YOU) TO SURFDAD

One of the greatest benefits to this discussion board (IMO) is being able to meet, either personally or otherwise, many great people from all over the country.

This last Thursday we, Myself, my Son, Daughter, Daughter-in-law, and future Son-in-law, were able to spend the better part of a day on New Hogan reservoir surfing with Surfdad and his family.

Meeting Surfdad was a treat, as we all know how well respected he is on this board. I have met many great people from this board and Surfdad is right up there with the best of them. He was very hospitable and helpful. He gave all of us pointers on how to complete a 360, (and yes we are still trying to consistently complete it).

As you all know, James really rocks at wakesurfing, even more than videos or pictures can justify. He is a rock solid young man, very well grounded, not big headed or anything like that, very humble and unassuming.

Judy (Mrs. Surfdad, or Surfmom if you will) is equally enjoyable and was very welcoming to all of us. She even pulled out the Mom trump card when I was trying to pull our surfers out of the water, she would demand that they give it one more try.

Surfdad and Judy are excellent surfers as well as James, as a matter of fact, I could easily say that James is a "chip off the old block", not that surfdad is old or anything like that, you know what I mean.

We had a video camera and my Canon XTI rolling all the time that they were in the water. My son has the video so I can't post that, but I have the pictures and so as a tribute to the Surfdad family, and also as a huge THANK YOU. Here are some pics of our time on the water with them.

As I said before, Pictures and Videos can't do him justice, he is so good that he is a must see in person to really appreciate his talents.

            James, you rock

              Next Judy:
One of the nicest ladies that you will ever meet.

              Here she is "hanging 5"

              Another nice bottom turn:

Then there's Surfdad, I cannot say thanks enough. Here are a few shots of him shredding the wake:

Is he REALLY bald? or is that just one of those new skin colored New Era hats that he stole from James?

And the most impressive thing to me of the whole day was watching Surfdad surf backside on the darkside (as he refers to it). However, after watching him, I have come to realize that he is a closet goofy footer, wanting and itching to get out on the goofy side of the wake. It's okay to come out of the closet Surfdad, we goofy footers will accept you as you are, no questions asked.

                      A backside sequence:

And the last picture (for now), as we were leaving I grabbed this shot of surfdad on the water:

                        Surfdad, thanks again, you rock.

Actually the hair on the sides is just a piece that he puts on to keep the sun off of his ears.

See the above picture for a more true picture of his dome.
