    New Build

Ok started my new build today and I will post as I go.
First is a blank of 2lb eps no stringer.

Next is my home made Hot wire for cutting. I used a simple bell transformer to go from 120vac to 24v and a dimmer switch to control the heat or voltage on the wire. The wire is 18g stainless steel welding wire.

    Then cutting

After the hot wire I have my rocker.

Time to start mowing some foam. I have my planner hooked to my shop vac to collect all the bee bee's.

Thats all for today, more this weekend.

Ok last night I sealed it with light weight spackling and a little water. Make sure to use purified water or it yellow. I have fin boxes set also but the camera battery is dead. Also I have just ordered more cloth so it will be a few more days before glassing.

So this may be a silly question, but what is the hot wire gun used to cut? It looks like you used a saw to cut the basic "profile" shape. Is the hot wire used to cut the rocker shape?

Yes. Once I have my rocker templates I screw them to the side of the blank and hotwire away.

Ok here is the whole stable. I also have a wakeskate that is not finished yet. Left to right. Number one was my first build a 5'7" fish great board fast with a bout 2 1/2 nose rocjer and 1" tail 4 1/2 " Fins so it is stable and drives. Next is a 5' skim style with same rocker and 3 " fins very loose and great for spinning. Then there is the nose rider long board 5' 11" and last but not least is my wifes board a 5' 4" 20" wide same rocker as above . They are all 2lb eps epoxy resin boards. Very lite and very fast and VERY FUN to ride and build.

Oh ya on the long board and the sun board I used hula-dek traction. Great stuff and relatively cheap compared to the stick on foam.
