    Having Trouble Surfing

I bought a CWB Tsunami last year. I am having trouble riding longer then 30-45 secs. My Younger bro has no issues. We are weighting the boat right on a 24v so I have no excuses there. Just not sure if I have the right board. Not sure if this board is for begginers or not. My brother seems to be the only one that can ride it, no one else can do more then I.

    Anyone have any input?

What is your height and weight?

I can't help you but I am sure that question will be asked by the one's that will help.

It took me quite some time before I could stay in the pocket, my wife on the other hand was able to go on her very first run.
It is just a matter of getting your weight distributed front/back and towards the wake. Instead of just trying to put more pressure on your front foot to go faster... try moving your hip forward towards the boat, and visa versa.

If some one else can surf behind your boat then you are safe to say you must a descent wake. Now that being said. If your bro can ride your board with out a problem then the problem is with you . With out seeing pics and by no means am I an expert but for some reason I can see what others are doing wrong but I have trouble helping myself .
To me it sounds like feet placement. If you could explain a bit on how your riding on the board we should be able to help, maybe take a pic with the board on the floor and how your riding?....Surfdad or son James are the experts.

All good info, but da.bell is right - we need to get an idea of your weight - all the hints in the world won't help if you are 280 pounds trying to ride that 'Tsu. Let's start there.

We had the same problem last year till I got some pointers from CP3. The biggest problem was our stance, our feet were to "heel side" if that makes sense. As soon as we moved our toes (especially the front foot) closer to the edge, we were going

I'm 200# and ride the Tsunami.

I way 180 and 6'3". My bro that can do it is 5'11 180. My other bro is 6'2" 205 and he is as good as me. Anybody that seems to get close or good at riding is below 6'. I did not really do much homework when I bought the board, except that I heard good things about the cwb. So was not sure if I got a board that was to advanced for me. We are all avid watersports people and have no issues doing any type of water sports. This is the firts one I am having trouble with. I am sure alot of it is me but just needed to hear some feed back.

First, wear lifejackets. If you don't then that gives us all a bad name and pretty soon none of us will be wakesurfing.

Second, try putting your front foot more towards the toe side rail of the board. With many of our riders their big toe is about an inch away from the edge. Also, put your back foot farther back than you think that it should be. If you feel like it should be a foot from the back, then move it back 6 inches. My point here is that most people have their back foot too far forward when learning how to surf. Moving it farther back creates a wider stance for you which will give you more leverage in speeding up and slowing down.

Finally, I tell our new wakesurfers that to go fast, weight on the front foot and lean on the toeside (into the wake), to slow down weight more on the back foot. You will just have to keep trying until you find the right combination that works best for you. Good Luck.

K thanks. This helps. I have the stance down for controlling speed but my toes are likely not close enough to the rail.

As far as wearing jackets, we do all the time. However this was my bro in a photo session with 2 lifeguards in the boat and a chase PWC. We also are on a lake that is on the boarder so international waters take effect. We can get a ticket but only in the states. No body looks at the canadian side. Also, nobody wears lifejackets any more. We have a few PFD's for the boat. We have some floatation vests that we wear but none of them are coast guard approved.

Here are some pics of me behind a Z1 on our Tsunami. 1st pic, no ballast, 2nd pic is port/rear, a 400# on top, and front sac.
