    Vacuum bagging and Sandwich Composite

I fired up the bag last night and pulled a vacuum on the first composite board that I am building. Luckily, I had one of my crew Dennis there to help out.

I am experimenting with composite sandwich construction. This board will have the following layers, from the top down:

    2 oz e glass
    1/8 dcell h80
    1.45 oz e glass
    1# eps foam core
    1.45 oz e glass
    1/8 dcell h80
    1.45 oz e glass

The board will also have dcell h80 rails and fin box inserts. The skins, by themselves are composite sandwiches glass/dcell/glass. It's interesting construction and feels very high tech.

A few pictures of the build up to attaching the bottom skin

      Thanks g-money.

Out of the bag and ready for triming. The board, at this stage, weighs 16.6 oz...it has a 5# density lower skin and one layer of glass between the core and lower skin.
