I have a 21I and it surfs really quite well
just wondering if anyone has a 20i and if it surfs??
(I like to slalom and barefoot but really like to surf now so am considering the20i )
Any one surfed behind a 21i??
Look forward to hearing back from someone?

We have an '04 20i and (ski, board & ) surf behind it, so far without sacs. I think that generally with more weight (people) in the boat it sits lower in the water and the wake gets bigger. Also seems that w/our boat at least, slightly more of the boat's weight is on the starboard side anyway making surf wake off starboard side slightly bigger naturally, but most of us surf right foot fwd/off port side, so we pile the waterskis and other stuff into rear storage and sit people in port rear corner....and if really desperate drive the boat turning slightly to port to make wake bigger on that side. Surf wake's a nice shape/curl.
Wake size and shape, varies with Taps setting, speed # & wt of people in boat. With only 1 person (135#) sitting in the rear corner on surfer's side, our surf wake even at Taps 7 isn't as big or as long a pocket as a friend's 22Ve obviously, but it's a nice shape. (Usually surf with Taps 4-5 w/the 22Ve) If you use a heavier person (170#) in back of our 20i, wake's bigger, and if you can add at least another !85-190#'er the surf wake's quite nice. Adding sac(s) might improve surfing wake, but though we really enjoy surfing, it's just relaxation for us after skiing and boarding -- or if it's too rough to ski/board -- so so far we've resisted adding more stuff to haul around.
The main disadvantage seems to be that since the 20i pocket isn't that long without extra weight, you end up getting pretty close to the swim platform sometimes....but it's great for walking on and off. And it's possible to do 3's and 7's and all those other things with the way things are at the moment anyway.

Yes, I have a 21i and it surfs great. This was my first summer with the boat, and my first attempt at surfing. We had 6 people sitting in the left rear of the boat with the taps at 7 and were able to surf with no problems. As skill levels increased slightly over the summer, we added a buddy's 2 fat sacks in addition to the weight of the people. It was a great surf wake, tons of fun. Next year we will play around a little more to find the ideal weight for surfing, but the bottom line is it can be done behind this boat with minimal extra weight. I didn't really think surfing would be so much fun, but now I am hooked. We also, ski, wakeboard and my buddy even barefooted behind this boat this summer. Very versatile and performs adequately for all of these watersports.
