    Wake @ Worlds

OK, the pictures I took at world, I posted the library here:

    http://homepage.mac.com/ragboy/Garcias@WWC2007/

They were from my boat so not so great. There was a pro photog on the tow boat, and I was able to buy pictures of my kids from him. When my kids rode the centurions before, they came off saying, it wasn't much bigger, or bigger at all than our wake. And they didn't like the shape as much.

This time was different. These boats were seriously weighted with lead and sacs.

So here are the new pictures.

These are of RJ on starboard. The camera angle doesn't do the wake justice.

OK, these are my favorite, especially the second. Maddie was the youngest out there, and she only had one grab and one pose, but she REALLY took it serious. I love the perfect feet positioning. These are better pictures of the wake, the announcer was laughing, because on the pass where she was on the far side from the shore, you just saw the blue helmet bob in view and out of view, behind the huge wake.

This is the only pic he got of Whitney. Not the most flattering. We call this trick, THE DUMP. You figure it out.

Nice tongue work by Ashley, huh? Ash is my only regular foot rider. On this side the photog got a bit lower, and you can really get a good look of the wake. It was a monster.

Get them up and freeriding, with at least a pose or 2. Like the squat, and maybe a couple of grabs. And enter them in a comp. It will inspire them, or they won't want to keep going, and you will know. The wakesurfing people are REALLY open to having young ones enter, and are VERY accomodating. Its still such a young sport, with tons of room to grow.

I'm the man behind virtually all the surf contests Ragboy is right we try and encourage the youngsters. At the INT contests, if the young ones don't podium we have a set of special awards - typically 5 per event and we make every effort to insure that yougsters or newbies get an award. "Best Effort" or something similar.

Also, if we have prizes - like new boards, we "raffle" those to the entrants, such that even if folks don't podium, they still have a chance to win something with significant value. Ragboy and family have won their fair share of prizes!

Like the other guys said, get them to try it once. If they can freesurf, they'll be hooked!

                  Believe me we have tried.
Our youngest (14 later this month) has only tried wakeboarding twice, she is just very afraid of new things, and she sees other people wiping out, so she doesn't want anything to do with Pain.
Our older girl (15) has tried surfing a few times, but just seems to like wakeboarding better.
We figure when they want to they'll try it. I would have thought since my wife loves surfing they would want to do it also (want to be like mom).
