    Vernor Surfboards Custom Wakesurfer

Dave Vernor is a well established surfboard manufacturer in Watsonville, CA. He has contracts with large chains like Surf and Skate and also is the primary shaper behind the Shred Stixx boards. Folks may remember the 8'6" noserider that I had Jerry Price design and Vernor is the man that converted it to foam and glass.

After many years of James riding a TWP Bullet, which has it's basis in a shpae that James and I created in the garage, we've decided to change manufacturers.

Dave Vernor is manufacturing a 4'5" roundtail from 2# EPS and a single layer of 6 oz glass on deck and bottom. I hung around the shop as Dave did the shaping of the board and took a few pictures of his shop and the process.

Second pic looks like some editing was involved. Was that Jame's old board being measured? Is there going to be a major design change this year for James? Or, is he going to ride the same style?

Surfdad, you kill me! I can't seem to scrape the funds together to get a Walker Bullet and you buy them in pairs and then have people make you custom boards from scratch! Awesome!

I'm always hiring, but you have to realize that my staff aren't buying these boards

The basis for this NEW board is the same one that James has been riding for...shoot, I guess 4 years now. The only reall significant change is going to be the EPS core and the rail shape. All of the prior boards have been PloyU and Polyester resin. This Vernor shape is EPS and Epoxy resin. The foam is two pound / cu foot, so somewhat lighter than the PolyU boards. I'm hoping that the final board will be in the 3.5 to 4 pound range, which is about a pound lighter than what we've had before.

The rails on the last few boards had a slight tuck, mostly to channel water away from the rider, but we've made it sharper again. The rear section of the board is razor sharp.

The only OTHER significant change is that this board will carry a Shred Stixx label.

                  Billy,

Dave is a legend that's for sure - are all shapers like Dave? He has GORGEOUS and I mean GORGEOUS women signing posters and hanging around for him...is that what your shop is like?

Guys if shapers attract the kind of women that Dave gets you do NOT want to work for me!!!!!!!!! Find a job with Billy!!!!

Oh yeah, Dave's a nice guy. He wakesurfs himself. I don't think he has any stock shapes on hand, but if you give him a visit he'll shape one for you. Let me know if you need his contact info.
