    wake/board input

Well, this is our first go at wakesurfing. I had the port ballast tanks, 400 rear/100 front, and a 250lb fatsac in the port seat compartment and three 150 lb people sitting on the port side. I know we can get more out of the wake with another couple people or more ballast.

The board is a true surfboard that I borrowed from my local shop. It is an NSP 6' 4" fish. We all got comfortable riding without the handle but I want to know if we should stick with this board, which I can get for $345 with the pad or if I should go with say a Walker Composite X-5.0 for about the same ($356)???

Clockwise from top left is me (Ryan), Ryan 2, Zac, Shawn. I wanted to credit the riders properly!

Nice! Can you find a shop that will let you demo a couple of different styles of boards?

Believe it or not I have not found a shop in the bay area yet that has any wakesurf boards in stock. It seems to just be catching on in this area so there is not much out there yet. Part of the problem is our lakes are typically quite shallow so it is harder to build a good wake. Deep for us is about 12 feet. Most the time I am only in about 5-7 feet of water...even about a mile out in the gulf of mexico I might get 15-20 feet. Over in Orlando the lakes are deeper. But I can't justify driving an hour and a half to a lake when I can drive three minutes. I was thinking of trying a smaller shortboard style board to see if we can play a little bit with it. As cool as it was to just cruise the lake, I think we will get bored with that quickly. I don't think many tricks will be had on that board we were using.
