GT, here is a great video that shows you have to get up.. It's very easy and I got up my first time....

The hard part for you will be separating the two activities. On the one hand, you've got a rope in your hand and the tendency will be to pull against it and on the other, you want to balance on the board to drive it across the wake. I struggle with the same thing. It's probably best to forget your waterskiing background.

So far, I have taught about 10 people to wakesurf this year. It's a great time, just went out last night in a light rain storm. The waves were big but we managed to still surf.
