Maybe post a sign on your boat? Local (to my boat) riders only, all others will be killed (specifically PWC drivers that get too close)?

BTT: I live in CA so I always wear one when I surf but even if it weren't the law I would for the reasons that Surfdad pointed out. Just b/c YOU don't think YOU are going to be hurt doesn't mean that someone else (PWC) aren't going to hurt you!If you ain't falling.. you ain't trying hard enough..

Check the picture and then just reflect on the guy getting three years probabtion for assaulting someone for giving them the stinkeye At what point do you cross over the line that in your mind it's ok to beat someone with a board because they give you a dirty look? Only in California!
I remember surfing in hawaii. Got a brand new local motion board. I was out with my brother, I was 17, we went out on Ala Moana on oahu. Its not a tourist spot, just locals. I am hispanic, and 17 in the summer, very dark. So I think the locals didn't bother us. Plus, on a local motion board, which you could only get in hawaii at the time. But then, couple of white kids came out. The locals went right to them, and one grabbed the kids board and put it in the owners teeth. After that, my brother and I just quietly paddled in. Didn't want to push it.http://wake9.com/

The only time that I don't wear one is during the winter months when I am wearing my dry suit. The dry suit has so much air stored in it that it practically serves as its' own personal floatation device. I guess that it is possible that it could lose the air, so I probably should wear the life jacket underneath the dry suit.
