Could be a little small to start with, but with the right ballast and placement on the board it could work.

I put the Rival ballast in late last season and only tryed it out once if you were to recommend a board what would it be?

Juniors, the Tsunami is 4'9" the Ride is 5'3". I'm 180 and consider myself an advanced rider and I ride a 4'8" that is 1.5" thick. That 4'9" is way too small for a big guy such as yourself, especially as a newbie.

I would recommend the Inland Blue Lake, the Shred Stixx - maybe the Blowfish or at least a 5'10" stixxstreme. You need more board.

What do you think of an Inland Sufer Yellow Loogey? They have a decent price on them at boardersmall.com

I like the Yellow Loogey. It's a fairly short board but the wetted surface area is probably about the same as most 5'0" boards. It's wide at 22". So turning it takes some additional effort over say an XBC grom or a Walker F-18. It's fast beacuse it literally has no rocker. There is a tiny amount of tail rocker, just enough to release water. The nose rocker is only in the flip. The rest of the board is flat...so, that translates in to down the line speed.

For my tastes it's a little sticky - meaning that breaking free of the surface is hard. Mark Sher with Inland is able to get air, so I guess it's probably a combination of experience and really pushing the board hard.

The EVA foam traction is recessed into the deck, so it allows the board to fit in more racks and the traction doesn't start to lift off at the edges as easily.

I've noticed that with many mass produced boards that there are some tolerance issues. Not just for Inland Products but HL, CWB, etc...I like to lie the board down on a hard flat surface (tile or concrete) and look for warp or twist. In my experience, hand shaped boards don't have this issue, I guess because the shaper is constantly checking it during the shaping process. A totally flat board that doesn't rock diagonally will be the best performer.

                  Nice board, worth considering IMO.

I hope you PM'd him because he already has someone asking for the boat already..... Not sure if you have checked lately......

You will like that board. We have the same board but in blue that we got when we purchased our boat. Haven't used it since we really didn't have the patience to learn on it but since I have scene one of my friends wakesurf, I am wanting to learn this year.

Lovin Powell has the Yellow Loogie. I agree completely with what Surfdad said there. I like the board quite a bit.

I did not like the big red as much as the yellow. I cannot put a finger on it, but I just could not stay in the pocket with it as well as the yellow loogie, despite it being bigger. Maybe I was just having a bad day.

I like the Hyperlite broadcast for bigger folks and newbies. That is what I learned on. I weigh 230 pounds.
                              Be excellent to one another.
