I picked up a new landlock at the local boat show. Since I am still a beginner, I will get a lot of use out of it and can use it later to teach others. BTW, the boat show price for a decked out RZ2 was around $74K -- seems high to me.

In addition to the Tige boats, I really liked Mastercraft X45 and the Malibu 247 LSV. The 247 LSV had a ton of interior space for seating.

That seems very high for a RZ2. Mine is decked out and it was under that out the door and I have a lot of money in the stereo.

The X-45 is sweet but way overpriced and the 247 is HUGE. I looked very closely at the 247 but it was out of my price range as well.

That is the boat that spurs the most inerest in me right now and I will not get to see one at any of my boat shows here in Florida. They will probably not be here for atleast a year. RZ2 **** Saw three at the LA Boat Show yesterday. Boat Show Special on an RZ2 with Tower & Trailer was $60,900+ tax, etc. etc. Not exactly sure about what options that included.

dose any one know of any Epic dealer near st.louis midwest i saw none at the boat show but would like to see one in person,i would like to see how their 8 transom speakers work (where rider can listen to his music at reasonable levels and boat passangers can still talk not scream also their dual rudders and how they track but most of all the wake on a 23ft. boat with 4300lbs of ballast

We were fortunate enough to get a demo on an Epic. I did a write up on WW under the Wakesurfing forum...should be two threads there. The way the boat is set up with the sideswipe exhaust or the traditional transom exit it's still VERY LOUD. They also offered a under hull exhaust exit that I guess just shook the boat horribly.

The twin rudders (when properly aligned) make the boat feel like it tracks on rails. Very responsive. PLUS! The boat backs straight!!!!!! That was the best part, in my opinion.

The surf wake - not the best, in fact, not even marginal in my opinion. The rear corner of the hull is basically the exterior of a tetrahedryal. Very angular and it created a secondary lip that made the wake effectively about half the usable height of any other boat out there. It was funny - you could BLAST through the lip going up and then you'd DROP into the pocket coming back down.

The wakeboarding wake was HUGE - really well formed and large, but in it's current configuration, it's not a good wakesurfing boat.

Lots of nice features like the transom speakers, the anchor storage. Lots of NOT nice features - the steering wheel touched the throttle in the WOT position.

The ballast situation was interesting too - the folks that have set it up successfully, don't use all that potential. It's simply too much on the hull and it doesn't create a great shape when fully laden. I think one day they'll get it all sorted out and you'll see some of the features from the Epic on other boats.

Epic was at the LA boat show for one day. The boat they brought looked like a first demo. The finish was poor and they had the thing so high you couldn't get a good look at the interior. I think they are on track with some features and gagets that will improve the sport, but still have a long way to go to compete with the big boys.

As for the BU's they are all shallow compaired to a MC or Tige. That was a turn off for me

thanks...how was the seating was it very roomy? and how was storage with all that ballast?

I'm trying to see if I should get the Red Tide for cheap or wait until our boat show at the end of the month. I don't have a lot of faith in the Vegas show having any great deals on equipment.

Moki I checked out the local show as well. Thought the same as you the local Tigé seem priced high, glad I got mine when I did.

I love the MC X-45 it is an awesome boat, but about $25k more than my 24v when new. It might be worth $15k more, bigger motor and some other stuff a little better. They are big gas hogs though, I do have a friend with one and he nor I are willing to trade, so I guess to each his own. The all white one at the show was a great looking boat, it had my wife looking for a minute. She doesn't like the RZ2 so for me its going to be the 24v for a lot of years to come.

Did you see the rail jamb while you were there? We stayed wed night to watch and then Steadman the local weather guy shut down the good stuff so he could do some stupid knee board live shot. 40' accross a pool, WOW!It killed the show he had everybody hanging for 15 min while the pros were in the middle of their runs. My wife and daughter had enough by then and pulled the plug. It looked like they had a great show for everyone minus Steadman. What is a weather guy doing a live shot inside an event like that anyway?

I did see the rail jamb while we were there. They were doing some pretty cool tricks. Luckily, I missed the weather guy and his amazingly boring ride across the pool. I was amazed at how fast the wire pulled them across the pond. The poor guy at the big see-through fish tank couldn't catch anything, but our kids stared at the fish for 10 minutes.

Regarding the X-45, that's the crazy thing: At the boat show the X-45 was only $15K more than the RZ2. The 24ve's were in the low 60's. I am sure they are trying to get top dollar for the RZ2 since it has been such a well received boat. My neighbor is getting the Bu 247. He hasn't got it yet, but I will get a chance to ride in it this summer and I will let you know my thoughts

Mtnsmith, I don't remember seeing the epic, unless it was the one that they had standing up on it transom and rotating. It was labeled as a prototype.

I met the new local service manager, he came from the Tige Factory, a young kid that worked there for a few years after college. Seemed like a sharp guy and am excited that he is here in Utah.

Wannabe, yes it's 5'11''. Had I read about Jim's deal earlier, I may not have gotten it, but gone for the Big Red. I think it will be a fun board and good for people to learn on.

74K for a decked out RZ2 is a STEAL!!!!!!!!!!! Ask DCSNOWWAKE what he paid for his............now remember he put about a 7500 sound system in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I met the new local service manager, he came from the Tige Factory, a young kid that worked there for a few years after college. Seemed like a sharp guy and am excited that he is here in Utah.

I did not get a chance to meet the new service guy. I am glad to hear they have a new guy. I may have to give them another shot at working on my baby. I talked to the salesman that sold me my boat for a bit, but he didn't mention the new guy. Unfortunately I don't have a great relationship with anyone else there, I'll have to stop in and meet the new guy and discuss a couple of things I want done and see how it feels. My salesguy was busy working the crowd and I didn't want to get in the way of any future Tigé sales, so I'll stop in and chat with him some wed morning when things are slow just to chat. I heard from my Malibu buddy that the show was considered a great success for all, with lots of sales for all dealers. I just hope they are at a different lake than I. Hope Tigé was represented well in those sales #s.
