    New to Taps 3, advice?

    Hello,

Recently purchased a 2019 r23, we love the boat, but it is hard to get a wake that is consistent on the surf. we are beginners, but a very athletic family, and can handle a powerful wave. what is your recommendation on taps setting, surf setting, and ballast.

    thanks!

Starting out, fill both front ballast to 50%. Fill rear surf-side ballast 100%. Fill rear non-surf side 80%. Surf tab on 4, Middle plate (TAPS) on 4. Speed at 10.8. That should get you a surfable wave. There are plenty of guys on here with the same hull as you and have fine tuned it with extra weight. There are some threads on this forum too if you search for them.

Don't get frustrated too quickly! It's a new boat, enjoy getting used to it and dialing it in exactly how you want.

If you are still have trouble after a couple weeks, get pictures and videos. Then we can really offer more specific advice.

Lots of people will tell you to fill everything but I think the wave is better with a little more list myself.
This is what we do on my buddies 18 Z3, settings vary depending on side your surfing, how many people are in the boat, and where they sit.

TAPS at 5-6, Surf at 6-9, speed 11.4-12, fill the surfside rear and bow to 100%, offside rear 75% offside bow 50%

We try to sit people to favor the surf side and as far aft as practical. He also has 200 lbs of lead in each corner under the bags and 100 in the port side observers locker (to offset the drivers weight)
