    Surf This!!!!

My dear friend and colleague created a challenge that entailed creating a "surfboard" for use behind the boat using the most "alternative" material, for the least cost that would allow for he longest sustained ride. I had a door that need to be replaced in the back of the house and so we saved the OLD door and created 'Surfdoor' Complete with 1/2 the doorknob protruding on the top side.

Sweet huh? No comments on how IMPROVED my riding looks on my new stick!

You'll notice that the 'surfdoor' doesn't fit in a standard rack. Not to mention hefting it's 60 pound weight over your head!

We were the only folks engaged in any form of watersports activities, maybe 6 fishermen and the rest of the lake was ours! Water temps in the high 50's and air temp's in the mid 60's tend to keep folks away here in sunny California.

What's next? Old furniture? I think NICKYPOO had an avatar with a picture of a convict driving an upside down table with an outboard attached to it.

I hope that door doesn't match your house...neighbors might be ticked!

Don't even start me on the neighbor's from H@#l! We live in the boonedocks, everyone has about 3+/- acres, the closest neighbor we have is a pyrotechics expert - shoots off fireworks for city and county governments. One year he felt it was too much trouble to take the explosives to the bunker's where they are supposed to be stored and brought 4 tons of the stuff home, illegally I might add, and stored it within about 100 feet of my house!!!! Literally, it took the fire department about 6 hours to move all the stuff away.

I'd like to give him a pink door!

That is pretty sweet. Wasnt it a bit slippery? I bet you got some funny looks toting that thing around.

I was going to use some surf wax (Sharkbait Surfwax sponsored James before we switched to X-Track tractions pads), but didn't need it. The door was in pretty bad shape, the reasone we replaced it...and we didn't seem to slip. Also, we didn't really move around on the board much...it tended to have a mind of it's own! No one would call it responsive so what we did was just get it going while still holding the rope and once you got slack in the rope - toss it and cruise
