    What kind of transom modification has to be done to the rz2 to adapt the taps3 plates or gsa. The early models don’t have a nice flat mounting surface.

      The biggest thing is making sure you don’t have lights In the way of the actuator upper mounting location.

      The other hurdle is making sure you can get enough stow position with the swim step brackets. All of these systems rely on being able to get the plates free and clear when in the stowed position. If you have a little plate hanging it can change the face of the wave quite a bit for the worse.

      Big stow, the correct deployment and the correct mounting orientation on the hull as to not interfere with any of the water releasing off the edge.

      Check all those boxes and you are good to go

        I am guessing from reading this and other threads the true benefit to GSA or a similar setup is quicker side to side?
        I have always had regular riders in the past but haven't found peeps here in vegas yet to ride with so I am guessing will end up with a few goofy riders eventually. never cared before but here getting in and off the water before it's 115deg would dictate quicker side to side to maximize riding time.

            I would say the true benefit is a maximum strength wave. This is why you see TAPS3 folks on occasion switching to GSA.

            And to those without the ability to switch quickly, that benefit is very nice.

              @ Germaine we do retrofit taps 3 stuff all the time and have for a while with 0 issues. Rocker switch and or off Tiges software means absolutely nothing in terms of performance.

              What makes taps 3 taps 3? The plate shape. Thats it. The software and the screen changes nothing in terms of performance. If the plate is the same shape and has the same downward deployment and stow angle then you are good to go. Knowing those numbers are what is important. Taps 3 software deploys at 9.5 mph against load. In all the testing we have done the system because of the power and load variable can be slightly different day to day. Which is why one day you could be running a certain setting and another day be a little different. A ton of variables there.

              Further, I would argue that a system on a rocker switch that can be deployed before takeoff will net you way more consistent results if you are ultra picky. Taps 3 does its job fine let me make that clear but so does the same plate on a rocker switch.

              GSA has a significant amount of time testing different loads. They have set outgoing power to the actuator and over run time on the controller accordingly. That system is also deployed before take off.

              Taps 3 is taps 3 because of plate design, other then that its no different then most any controllers. It sends time based movements to an actuator, nothing more nothing less.

              The most important thing in these systems when it comes to adjusting plates on the move is having the ability to make sure you can over run the actuator to full deployment. If the system is locked into time only movements without enough over run built in than a low power supply and or high load can hold off the actuator being able to get to its full stroke or its ability to get back to perfect repeatable positions.

              GSA or a rocker switch can negate that while on the move. You only notice some of these issues if you are really heavy and or cycling the plates wildly up and down while in motion.

              Gsa is ideally run between 9-12 degrees. If you have it set so that at full deployment its in that window then the overrun built it to the controller makes it extremely accurate and repeatable.

              Tige has done a great job of trying to factor all of that in but some of it is out of their control.

                  it would be nice to get a better wave and ditch the convex vx as it's a pita to remove. we are shopping for a house and right now garage depth is our biggest stumbling block. having the platform off each time like I did with the 22ve would certainly help.

                    The other benefit of GSA, is being able to deploy both plates for launching a fully loaded boat and being able to run. Quicker hole shots. It would be nice if we could do that with Taps 3. My 18 RZX3 will get on plane when fully loaded but it is a little sluggish getting there.

                      It’s my understanding Taps 3 does that automatically by setting the the middle plate to 1 when cruise is on when not, you can augment that by using your taps button on the throttle just like all the boats with taps 2.

                        The new boats do it with the Taps 2 plate. But the GSA system allows you to use the both tabs. It just helps with getting a fully ballasted boat on plane quicker. Then the automatically retract when you hit 18 mph.

                          Ahh. True! It would be nice to be able to control the surf tabs individually. Maybe a future software update Koolaid?

                                Since Elevated is all things waves...question....if I install a set of GSA plates upside down on my new direct drive( <------Dave ) will it produce a flatter ski wake? To me the logic is there?
