I’ll check out Kanuk too. Cheers
my experience with SC was once i put an inquiry on the website explaining what i was looking for Jeff got right back to me and helped out via phone. But i think his business has blown up and it's just him. and this is the busy season.

not schilling for the guy, just saying my experience with SC has been great all the way.

In all fairness, this seems to be what I usually hear.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

You need to email him and request a phone conversation. He is very much a small shaping shop, and is literally making boards. He is as nice as they come. I have respect for his time enough to realize he cannot spend a lot of time on the phone if he needs to make boards.

Nick also has made me some awesome sticks. Chaos is legit.

Just wanted to chime in that Jeff is a good guy. Certainly not someone I would expect to be disliked.

I get that Soulcraft has got to be busy. People aren’t lining up to hand a grand out for a board because they suck.
I’ll shoot him an email and see what his suggestions are. It seems it’d be more time consuming reading emails and making calls rather than just making calls but it’s his business and I understand time is precious and finite.
Like I said I don’t mind paying a little more for something if I feel there is value there.

Dakota-If I remember correctly you were saying the racer X was badass. What do you like about it?
Why’d you sell the jimmy? Didn’t like it or just not riding it?

            dakota4ce-

It’s all good. I’m still just a bit bitter. I seem to be the only one though.

Nick would be my guy anyways. If for whatever reason he couldn’t help me out, I’d be on the phone to Chemistry next. They haven’t built wakesurf board 1 yet but, I’d like to see what they could do.

I had a Lakewakes Surf Gamma Ray XL made this winter. I have rode it 4 times so far this year and really like it. It is fast, light, and lively, and the nose doesn't dive like my Phase 5 Trident! I am 220 lbs, and 54 years old, so don't like to have to work too hard and this fits the bill. One thing I noticed that is cool is that it is convex both front to back and side to side which I haven't noticed on my other boards.

I ordered a custom board and after he missed the deadline for my summer vacation, I pulled out and just bought one off the shelf. To be honest, I rarely use it. So no, you're not alone. I don't harbour any grudge, but I would go elsewhere next time. Likely Chaos or Kanuk.

Another vote for the Trident. It's my favourite board, but I am at 275lb... and it still rocks. I never noticed that convex side to side though.

Johnnie, I was referring to the Lakewakes board with the convex shape side to side, i don't believe the Trident does.

I’m not quite so lonely now.

                      Jetdriver- did you order something?

                        Sorry I missed your question!

The Racer is an awesome stick. It was the first good stick I bought and has brought me a long ways. It’s got hard rails, is very speedy and has medium pop I would say.

The Jimmi wasn’t getting ridden enough. It was the perfect board on my buddy’s RZX3, and was not the best one of my quiver on my Supra wave. For whatever reason.

I think the Racer is very similar to his standard Ringer, which is widely beloved.

Nick’s Sixer is a wonderful board with more pop than my Racer (I would say).

Truth is, they’re all damn good and fins I have learned are nearly as critical.

I had reached out to Soulcraft to have a custom board built and they would never call me back. Glad they didn't as I ended up having a custom Rusty Snaggletooth built at 4'6" and it has been the best board I have ever been on. I coupled the board with the new Phase5 Speed base fines and it is simply insane! Its so good that I am having one built for my son in 4'0".

I have rode the Snaggle Tooth as well and loved it. I almost bought one, but decided to go with the Soul Craft instead. Maybe one day I will add one to the quiver. Clint is great to work with at Rusty.

I appreciate all the great feedback on boards you guys!
I ended up winning an eBay auction on a used Phase 5 Ahi in like new condition for $375. It’s like it wasn’t even ridden! I was the only bidder. I still can’t believe I scored it that cheap but sometimes you’re just looking at the right time I guess. Anyhow, I’m pretty pumped on it, especially at that price!
Added bonus- one of my riding buddies lady bought him a Soulcraft Emily so I got two new boards by default

That’s damn cheap. Nice looking work.
