    Bad countersteer with suck gate

Anybody have a issue with a surfgate causing a lot of countersteer?
Had this same DIY gate on our 99 2100v and had no issues with countersteer. .
Put it on our 08 RZ4 and with the gate on right side and at speed I have to hold the steering wheel pretty hard to the left to go straight. Is it the angle of the gate? Need advise!

Crab-walk and counter steer are found with the Malibu surf gate boats as well. Id fully expect it with any side deployment surf appendage. Not having it on your 99 2100V seems like the exception to the rule.

      Bad countersteer with suck gate

Anyone have any input on a suck gate that's 90 degree versus a suck gate that's 45 degree?
On said boat of the OP^

I started out with a 90* suckgate and don't recall any steering issues. I then moved to a 45* and got the same wave with even better performance with less effort on the engine.

I very little counter steer with the 90* suckgate. I did try a Malibu style gate before off the swim platform and it was terrible. Wonder on your RZ4 if the placement of the gate vs. rudder makes any difference? Try moving it forward slightly see if that makes any changes to it.

How big is the face of the surfgate? Sounds like it is too big if there is major counter steering needed.
            I wouldn't go larger than 6"x9".

It's 8x11 but it decided to sink to the bottom of the lake.... so we are experimenting with a slapper setup like the wakesetter now.

I know when I had the Nauticurl suckgate on I barely noticed any steering change. Maybe the solution is right in front of you--save the hassle go suckgate?
