    21v ballast

While boats been in shop got a chance to go out on a buddy's older MC to do wakesurfing. I'm hooked and want to set my boat up with proper ballast and probably make a wake gate similar to the mc tt suck gate.

I'm having hard time finding the right ballast that would work in the rear lockers without spending a ton of money. I was think of buying two of these set ups. 4 550 bags with 2 pumps. Put 1 in each locker, 1 in front now walkway, and 1 on surf side rear seating area.

I'm just not sure if these will work. They seem a little long for the lockers. Can anyone suggest any better alternatives? Thanks

I think you posted the wrong link. I like that bungy though. I might had to pick one up for the suckgate.

First things first, contact Chpthril for your ballast. Doing anything else is borderline asinine.

It doesn't take a ton of ballast to get a great wake behind that boat.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Ill start by saying you are going to regert going with a sac and pump kit that uses that old waterbed style fittings. All the good sacs migrated away form it 8-10 years ago. Anyone still using it, is buying those old sac designs, rather than design their own.

A better alternative in regards to fitting and not being too long, is going to be a custom sac. However, a custom is not always the most economical when you compare the $$$ to LB. However, a custom allows for the best fit, most weight and best port locations.

For about $220 more, you could get 2 fly high 1100's, 1 750 and 2 1200 GPH pump kits with FAR better fittings.

Thanks, I was looking at the fly high 1100 too. I take it these work in the rear lockers? I take it throw the 750 up front

The W719 is about the best off the shelf value sac out there. Good fit for the 21V locker considering its $190 retail price. Based on what you are after, yes, W719 1100's in the rear lockers and the W707 750 in the walkway. The W711 IBS would go under the bow seats so its all hidden away. However, the $$$ to lb is not that of the 707 but thats due to the sac design of the U shaped hidden sac.

WAY better fittings than those old waterbed style. When the time comes to plumb in those sacs, they are good to go. No questionable fittings that are prone to pop off.

Full disclosure though, I could not begin to tell you how to best weight that boat when using a surf apparatus. Im just making suggestions based on the sacs linked and the info shared.

Is it an issue that the W719 is 50" long and our 21V locker is only 40"? Reason I am asking is because I would like to do an identical upgrade after my stereo install is done. Is there supports that need to be added to the engine access boards to prevent failure? Not trying to hijack but these questions should be thought about. Also I surf behind mine already. The boat likes the weight in the rear lockers not so much up front. I currently stack 2 400 lb sacs and use people weight up front to dial in. Also regular foot wave is easy to dial in while goofy takes some playing with.

The set-up I have is the integrated bow sac W703 along with two fat bricks up front in the aisle. I have the w711 side sacs and another fat brick where the port side rear seat goes. I run six 5gal jugs in the starboard rear locker and the w719 in the port side locker. The w719 may seem too big, but it will conform. Just get it as full as you can and it will make a huge difference. My wave is huge and has tons of push. It does roll over a little ways back, but I can pump it down the trough no problem. You don't have to break the bank to get a great wave. I've used cast iron intake manifolds, 5gal buckets, jugs, steel hammer throw balls. Sometimes you have to improvise. Good luck.

I just got two of the 1100 sumo max bags and the max pump. They are 50" long so they scrunch up a bit in the rear lockers of the 21v, but I don't need them full to get a great wave with a suck gate. They fill lightening fast. I was very impressed.

i have a sumo 750 and pump I could be talked out of.

Actually Jim I was thinking the same thing. I've got a buddy that has a 1997 mastercraft V drive and his lockers look smaller than mine but he uses the fly high 1100.

I went ahead and put order in for the twos chpthril recommended or I would have taken you up on that offer, unstuck.

450 in rear, 200 in the side 200 in front plus people. Throws a nice wake with lots of push. Not bad for a 16 year old boat. Link to video of the wave. Will be making a suckgate to see if we can get it better.

Awesome video, I'm big guy myself at 6'2" 245. What kind of wake surfboards you guys using? I've been having some issues letting go of the rope. I've been on liquid force 59" fish that I was able to let go for a little bit and hyperlite time machine, had hell of a time trying to find balance on that board. Felt way too fast kept wanting to go towards boat.

That board is made by triple x. It is probably 5 years old. It is pretty quick with the center fin removed. Sounds like you might need to move back a little on the board for better balance. Too far forward and you are always on the gas pedal.

Wakemakers has some semi-customizable bags that are reasonably priced and have several plumbing options. See link below.
