    Wakesurfing and Your Gas Tank.

This is mainly a concern for those of you with a D-drive with the gas tank across the transom. We headed out from the beach yesterday with 1/3 of a tank. With 350lbs of ballast in the trunk, six people in the boat, and Taps on 8, we really had the back corner buried. This gave us a nice waist high 10ft. pocket. We were headed back to the beach when we ran it out of gas. There was gas in there but we we're at such an extreme attitude and list the the fuel was low enough that it was all on one side of the tank which made it drop below pickup in the tank. Now when you run it out of gas, every little floating particle that was in your tank, is now in your fuel system. This scenario = dead in the water because you've got the filter so full of crap that the pump can't pull any fuel through the lines. This was the first time I have ever been towed back to the beach because my Tige won't run. Just to be clear, this is not a Tige issue. It was my own dumb fault for surfing my '00 22i Tige when I knew I was light on fuel. So if you've got an older Tige with the square tank across the transom and plan to surf, take heed and just fill it up. There is no glory in being towed back by a Malibu.

On a bright note, the guy I was camped next to all weekend was hounding me to buy my boat. He started getting desperate at the end and was offering me his Harley, his motor home, anything. Even after I got towed back. No dice pal.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.
