Or just for fun, angle it up even more than your picture shows, from spray. By brother was sitting in that corner of the boat. Soaked him.
Did you make it to Jordanelle? If so how was your wave with the suckgate compared to TAPS21?

Didn't make it. Going either Friday afternoon or Saturday. As always, can't wait.

So I finally get a chance to get my boat out tonight. Pretty excited to try out my version of the suckgate. (for whoever thought of that, I love the name). Wife leaves on a business trip and I encourage her to take my truck to the air port so I can use her new Tahoe we bought because it can tow 8200 lbs to tow my boat for the fist time. Sadly my 2" drop hitch wasn't enough to get under my trailer and my 6" drop hitch which I never imagined I would need on this Tahoe was in my truck, at the air port. (face palm)

          End of sad story.

Good news is I have friends with boats so tonight was not a total loss and I still got to try it out.

Attached Suckgate to a 2006 24' Supra and right off the bat we are all blown away. About 900lbs in each locker running even weight. At this point in the Video we have no bow weight and 3 guys none of which were sitting were we should be to get the best wave in a listed boat.

I didn't post a before pic/video without the gate because well, the wake was worthless when running even ballast without it. Without it the wake looks as bad on the surf side as it does on the non surf side.

Only problem is that suck gate refused to suck for very long. I think it stayed on maybe a minute at most and we tried at least 10 times. Its promising but not there yet. I may trim an inch off the plate to reduce the resistance a bit. Also may add a washer to the levers to see if I can get a bit more suction out of them.

I have heard people say to use a clay bar to clean off the area so I will have to try that as well if it fails on my boat.

All that said, here is where I am at with this and this may help people considering the Mission Delta as an option to making there own. It's the price of a good surf board and the reality is that if it stays on as they promise and does not pop off every 60 seconds like my version does. IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. I'm not ready to pull the trigger on one just yet but now seeing what it can do I am very impressed with what something like the Mission Delta could do to a boats wake. Definitely a game changer in my opinion and if you want to run even and not listed, some version of a wake gate is a must have.

I had the exact same problem you did. I tried 2 dozen times, and eventually the rubber on my suction cup tore.

The good news is that my Mission Delta arrives today, and I will have it on the lake tomorrow. So expect a report this weekend.

Can not wait for your report on this. I have high hopes after seeing what these things can do to improve the wave.

What handle where you using? Was it the black plastic one or the metal one? I bought both and the metal one makes all the difference in the world, I also clay-bared the area and my gate didn't move an inch the entire day surfing. So give that a shot!

Mine would not stay on my 07 RZ2 tonight at all. Popped off every time. I'll try swapping the suction cups for the metal one and clay bar the area.

Yes that is exactly what you need to do!! My aluminum handle gate didn't come off once and we switched sides multiple times and for kicks even got the boat up to 20 to see if it would pop off.

My brothers friend just bought the mission boat gear one and they went out last night, my brother said the mission boat gear one worked amazing....and then they put his suck gate one on that he built identical to mine and it worked EXACTLY the same, only it was about $450 bucks less! Thank you internet for the idea!

The Delta is awesome. Just spent 10+ hours on the lake today with it.

Tired, sun burnt, but thought I'd throw you guys a bone before I sack out.

Delta is totally worth it to me. Even had my other DIY suckgate not busted, I would be keeping the delta. I was never thrilled about how heavy my DIY gate was, and it made me quite nervous having it on the side of my boat. Can't even imagine using a metal handle...

The Delta is lightweight, no sharp edges anywhere, and it floats. The tether is pretty slick, although we never had a need for it, as it did not slip once today in 10 hours.

I have a bunch of video that I don't feel like editing right now... Might see if I can find an already small clip that I can upload real fast. The above are just a couple screen grabs from the video....

                              Ok, quick video uploaded.

Things to keep in mind. I'm 6'5", 250 lbs and the wave was great for me. This was about 4pm in the afternoon, we got on the lake around 8:30am. I'm very sun burned, drunk, and acting the fool. Enjoy!

Ah hell, you may just helped me choose my fathers day gift. Ordered the metal suction cup today to swap mine out. But in with you I'm not all that excited about having to put anything metal with that much force near my gel coat.
