Totally worth the $450 not having to try out homemade suc gates, just slap it on weight it down and surf

Here is what my suckgate fully listed wave looked like.

This is with a crew of 10 adults. 1850# surf side rear, 500# off side rear. 450# bow surf side, 700# of lead rear surf side. 12.0-12.5mph. Slowing down helped the height a little, but not enough. Changed the height and shape so much. It was doing a full barrel though.

^^^Not like your wave needed any help but, that's a hell of a lot of real estate to work with. How much did you mess with the placement of the gate?

I think the photo angle is odd. It's just slightly longer then my normal listed wave. Just push further back, and not as tall. I tried a few placements, but this is as far back and as low as possible.

That wave looks much flatter then your listed wave Duffy.... Definitely long but super flat IMO

My listed wave is very large- meaty. I might go out and try to neutrally weight the boat again, with say 1100 or so in each locker. I don't want to give up on it, but I don't think a gate wave will ever beat my heavily listed wave.

I played with suckgate again yesterday on my 22ve, the starboard side wave pretty good but I am more concerned with my port side for me, I ran full mla sac, all factory full 400 front, 250x2 in rear and about 4-500 offside weight. made a new suckgate that is more like surfgate, sticks to side of boat but gate is at platform like surfgate is. My conclusion- wave does not have the same lip as listed, it has a distinct line in wave 2/3 way up. What is better is that the wave is harder for sure, can go slower and have a harder wave, the other thing I noticed was how far out into the flats I could go. I had never been so wide of the boat, that was a def. bonus. If I could get rid of line in wave might be onto something. At work right now, will post pics of new gate later for anyone who wants to see. It also changed the wave closer to the boat.

                  Duffy-

It kinda looks like too much "effect" from the gate. I really liked the way the wave formed up having the gate very far forward on the 21v. We had the gate basically flush with the front of the rear lockers and it seemed to have more power and more height with a better lip. Not sure if you tried it that far forward on your completely different hull but it's worth a shot.

Finally gonna try it out on my boat tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Finally got to try it out on my boat. I can say I was very impressed. Length and push were both improved without listing. Steering was stiff but was able to turn both directions without any issue. AL handle didn't move a bit on a polished hull. I won't go back to listing on my boat. My hull like it a lot more no more grabbing air with the prop either

Looks good Ruger. What kind of weight are you putting in there?

That was running 350 in locker (centered), 350 on rear seat (centered) 220 plates under the rear seat, 1 kid on each side of the rear seat, then wife driving and brother on observer seat. Listed I had to have at least 2-3 more people to get the push this has and still never had the length this puts out. For an older DD hull I'm very happy. Plus boat is a lot easier to drive and less chance of a wave going over the rear rail.

Hey Dukes - can you explain or better yet post a pic of how you attached the actual gate to the Princess Auto plastic suction handle?

                              Thanks!

I had a video too but photobucket is acting up, anyhow, I just drilled through the handle as you can see where the 2 bolts are. I drilled the holes a little larger than needed so that the handle can still flex, I think that helps in it sticking as well as it does. Once I am satisfied with one of these things I will spend a little more time honing in on the aesthetics but for now no point in wasting too much time on that. Hope this helps
