Thanks for your input. Please note, I am not here to argue about it one way or another... we just wanted to show what it does. One other factor comes into play though that should be considered when viewing this video - the conditions were crap as well. All things considered, we both liked surfing with it, but it does consume A TON of gas with everything weighted.

I bet if thegerman hung the camera low and to the side, you would think it's a new wave.

After reading my post I feel I gave a "knee jerk" response and I apologize to Greeko as my intention was not to attack him, his post, or his wave and subsequently I have deleted my post. The wave produced by any surf system should not be compared to any listed wave. I understand there are those with newer boats such as elevatedconcept and others for example that are able to produce comparable waves with surf systems to that of listed boats. However there are some that need or even require a system such as the Mission Delta to produce surfable waves and/or want the ability to switch quickly from side to side without having to swap ballast.

So again Greeko....I apologize for any malicious attitude or intent as I feel my post and reply was not professional or warranted on my part.

              Nicely said!

I am building a suck gate for fun. I should be able to give a detailed review of what I think vs a heavily listed boat.

The setup is key in any surf system wave just like it is in any listed wave. You can knock system boats all you want but the techology is changing the industry, from gates to hybrid systems like TAPS3 etc. Its taking a while for people to figure out setups, what works what doesent. The wave on my boat looked like **** when I got it compared to other boats I have owned that I leaned over, now as things are being learned and knowledge collectively pooled together the system boats such as mine are producing top notch elite waves that were said just a few months ago to not be possible. If I wanted to go back and have some eat crow, it would be easy. Some of those very few have been out with me and since put their boats up for sale to buy something new.

The minute you stop being open minded to change and how it could revolutionize things is the minute progression will halt.

As for gates I for one am ecstatic Duffy is going to build one, he can hybrid what works for him listed wise and pair it togetther.

The gates work wonders I loop them into the category of all the new stuff on new boats because they are making older boats produce elite waves, again when set up correctly. A friend stacked two 1100 bags in the rear of a 2006 ski supreme 20 foot, gated it and its absolutely fantastic. All while being safe to drive by all members of his family.

Love the tech thats changing everthing, lots of neat stuff coming down the pipe. Until then enjoy the ride.

Surf systems are interesting. They are totally helping the sport and getting people out surfing. I will be surprised if it's makes my nicer, but who knows! I have surfed almost all new boats with systems and none touch my wave, it's actually pretty funny when I get an owner of a new g25 or whatever on my boat and their jaw drops I think heavily listed boats will become a rarity though. I should have mine done for the weekend.

I want to see if you can get your boat on plane with all that ballast capacity...... You might find the limit of your 5 blade.

If and when you get out my way I'll get you out In a slammed taps 3 boat, might have a different opinion, or might not. I've learned that opinions are like.... Well, you know.

I surfed Z3's (non taps 3), Slammed G's, Wakesetters etc.. All the same, it's a great wave just not the same size or push.

I am not planning on filling my whole ballast system I believe the motor would explode. My goal is to hopefully add a little length to the wave with the suck gate. Plus it was fun to build.

...and Duffy heads for the darkside.

I'm excited to see what happens with your wave Duffy. I'm sure we all are. You might even find it useful as a tuning device. It'll at least add some more data to the pool.

Banged out another Sucgate last night. Took about about two beers, I mean hours. Mostly identical to the first. The hardware is a little different. The HOD is a little different in that it has pins with c-clips on the levers which made it nice for removing the cups for assembly. Word to the wise though, don't drill the holes for the brackets dead in line with the pin. It makes it a pita to get them back in. The new shelf brackets have the supports tacked in instead of just friction fit. We'll see how long those last. The "blade" itself has a bit of curve to it. It starts at 18 degrees on the boat edge and exits at 21 degrees off the end of it. I also tuned the top edge of the blade to eliminate the hard edges. Water follows curves and releases off of hard edges so maybe it'll keep the spray to a minimum?

I have already lost one to the bottom of the lake It lasted all of 7 seconds and then snapped 500# test line. This next one will be aluminum, tig welded and covered in fanoodles. Hopefully the combo will be light enough to float. I plan on using steel cord or something to keep from losing it this time.

^^^Bummer. Mine popped off right away when it was mounted on the stickers. Fortunately my old section of wakeboard rope held.

I love my new Delta! Worth every penny of the $450. I loved my slammed wave before, but with the Delta it made it way longer, way more forgiving, and the transition is so smooth with tons of push. I still run it slammed but with only half the bow weight. The suction cups are fricken strong too. I don't see how it could ever come loose.
