Mission Boat Gear Delta - Universal Surf Gate!

We tried my suck gate on a friends Malibu 21lsv with about 2000lb of ballast and the wave was amazing. I can't tell you for sure where all the weight was as it was part integrated ballast and part steel shot and part bags

Looks good guys. I got a text message from my son, at Lake Powell, about our adjustable version. He is spending time on his friends 24V. In the forward position it lifted the bottom cutting board back and released the suction lever and pulled it off the side of the boat. It also bent the adjustable arm we built. He reversed the direction and set it around 75* with good success. He said it cleaned up the wave a lot. His friends aren't much into messing around with it, they just want to surf.

I will have to come up with a stronger base and arm for our trip to LP in two weeks.

Well, I finally got a chance to put one of these together on the weekend. Thanks again dukesofhazzard for HDPE.

Tried it out yesterday at the lake in a couple different spots but also ran in to the issue of it ripping off all the time. Only got to try it a couple times before the rope tether I had ripped apart and well......I don't have a suckgate anymore.lol. I'm going to try and make another one see if I can shape something a bit better for the side of my VE and do a different variation. No rush though. Personally I'm set up to list and have no problem driving listed so I don't really care if these things work or not.

              Hi Forum,
My nephew is interested in Wakeboarding and or Wakesurfing. He is 5'10" 320 pounds.
Any board size suggestions for him to begin with??

              Thanks!

Phase 5 has a new board called the "Kong" which is designed for 300+ riders. I haven't tried it, but I would love to.

I can tell you from personal experience the custom boards really don't stretch that far. I went with a Soulcraft and at 275lbs, it takes some work.

                        2002 Tige 21V riders edition
                        Shaved swim step
                        400lbs each rear locker
200lbs lead bags under mid boat
500lbs bow bag under the seats
Surf exhaust changed the game and the wave a bit
Suc gate location all the way in the rear and at the very lowest flat area.
                        Taps at 4
11.6-14mph but taps need to go to 6 at 14mph to keep the nose up
                        Angle of gate at 65°
3500w of strerio to keep the surfer pumped
I run with everyone in the rear seating accept i like to put one fatty in the front on riders side.
I could put 1400 each rear locker with my sacs but I dont have the power to push the boat that weighted with the gate on. Looking to go with a new prop to help with that.
The angle adjustment of the gate is key though. I have been testing this thing on 8 different boats now and each one is different on the sweet spot. Location and angle.
I have tested against the Delta and am not impressed with it at all. The gas consumption is outragous(yes i know I am boating so fuel goes quick) and the spray is crazy due to the set angle of 88°.
Not trying to bash on delta at all just showing you can make a way better product in your garage and get just as good or better results. It looks like Delta will have one more in stock to who ever gets it first good luck and pad the back of your boat. Mine got returned today.

Taylormoto: That does look a lot better. I was thinking of something along that line as well. I like how you made it adjustable. I made mine at 10 degree's and I think it may just be too much drag on it. I was also thinking of making it a bit longer as well to use two suction cups in a row. Lastly, to notch it so it would conform to the angled side of the VE. I know it can be changed left to right as easy but I don't run goofy often at all.

Two cups should be plenty and it really limits the locations you can place it. Thats the reason I made a new one was to get the cups closer together and thin out the sides alot. Now I can get this thing to stick almost anywhere on my boat. If you are having problems with it sticking then either its on a graphic(Many new graphics have picroscopic holes on the whole deacl to help installer not get bubbles) or I found even just a boat cleaner is slick enough to make them fall off. A little alcohol wipe down before the boat gets dropped in the water and it should never fall off. Also many people dont get the water perged out of the suction cups before locking them down(known as hydro lock).

So you prefer 65 degrees? I am building one today for fun.
