Even with the Delta (or the homemade version lovingly called the sucgate) you will need extra bow weight. As you have found, adding bow weight lengthens the wave with some loss of push. Play with the weights to find the best combination of length and push for your hull. We use the delta on our 24ve with 2600 lbs in the rear and 600 to 1000 lbs up front. I'm 200 lbs and run at 12.2 (not gps checked) with taps at 4. When we don't have passengers we add an additional 400 lbs to the surf side to give the boat a slight list and more push. Definitely add more bow weight. This combination for our hull puts out a very nice wave. I love the mostly level boat and there is plenty of push throughout the long wave.
Thanks for the response. I think the more level the boat the easier it'll make it for the driver as well. Looks like I'm buying more stuff! lol. Any suggestions on what ballast to use in the bow? I found a fly high on wakemakers 'Pro X Series Integrated Bow'. But it's only 650lbs. Any thoughts there? Thanks again!
We have the integrated bow sac and with he space restriction under the seat I bet we only get 300 lbs max in there. When surfing with no people ballast we use the 1100 lb triangle bow sac that sits on the bow seats in addition to the integrated bow sac. When we have people on board we use a 400 lb tube sac in the bow which leaves enough space so people can still hang up there. We are planning to make lead weights poured into a mold that will fit in the bow walkway underneath the centre cushion that covers the walkway so we won't have to use the tube sac. Pull out your wallet man, time to spend more money!

You're out of control! Lol. But I see where you're coming from. I was thinking the lead route as well, but wasn't sure how the tub will ride with permanent weight up front when needing to cruise the lake. Have a email in to my dealer. He's usually pretty good and finding solutions as well. Thanks for encouraging me to take out another equity loan. Ever consider the after market taps 3 system? (Wave control surf system)
Ya, we are out of control, no doubt about it. It helps that we own the boat jointly with my sister and her husband. We have had our eye on the wave control for over a year now and I have tried to get Wagemakers to hook me up with another 24ve owner who has installed it but they don't keep that data. So, we'll wait it out until someone on this or another forum does a review with our hull. After using the Delta I am hard pressed to imagine a scenario where we would dish out another 3K. The Delta works pretty damn good.
I saw the same handle from Princess Auto here in Calgary but hadn't spent much time thinking on how to attach the handles to the board. Would you mind to post a photo or two to see your design. THe princess auto handle is significantly different than what was posted here so it would be interesting to see how you cobbled it together.
this is the exact handle I used. My boat is at our cabin right now but I will take pics this weekend and post up how I did it. Ill try to get a pic of wave too, not sure if time to fool around as we have company though. Actually I will look and see if I have a pic already
Well we are 3 for 3. We have used suck gate on all three boats and it works perfectly Big clean wave with tons of push. However on all 3 boats we have experienced water in the engine compartment. Last night on a buddies 24' Supra we unknowingly submerged the as much as half of the engine. Worse yet his bilge stopped working entirely so we had to pull off the water. I don't know if anyone else has had any issues with this but may its a tad bit concerning. Love the way these things work and no matter how far back and how low I position them we are having issues taking on water on 3 completely different boats. I may try turning it around so that the plate is all the way at the back edge of the boat in an effort to prevent this.
On a different note we did try 2 totally different version of suck gate. Mine and one my buddy made with a bit longer plate and a 45 degree angle. Resembles a small version of the Ronix wake sharper but with suction cups instead of Velcro. I felt like his produced a slightly steeper wave. However no matter the sharp angle both versions worked about the same.
Has anyone ran the actual Mission Delta that has issues with the water spraying up? We have not had ours out yet. I am wondering if the Delta design with the tapered edges and the holes in the face have something to minimize the water pushing over the top and causing the upward deflection?
You ever have that moment when you are ready for an awesome day of wake surfing and you realize to left suck gate at home. [emoji22] had to run listed today but still had fun.
I tried my Mission for the first time today. Had a few hours by myself and had the following observations.
- The even weight wave was not that impressive.
- I tried my usual listed setting and without people in the boat it will not make a wave. I put the delta on and bam! I have never seen this wave this tall and long. I would say it's equal a comp Z3 wave with adjustability and I only had myself in the boat. The wave was a wall at taps 8 and had adjustability down to taps 1 just like the AVX.
- The best setting. Was Running the delta in the reverse setting as far back as possible right above the ledge (so suction cups in front of the plate). Surf side locker full 1000lbs, offside 300, 155 fat brick on the seat and no bow weight. Speed at 11.6 taps at 6 with plenty of adjustability.
Even weight wave

All in all I would say lots of potential. I did try the regular side and need to spend more time on that, but I do want to ride both sides. I have not rode it yet,but hope to in the next couple days or will have to wait until after the next Endless Wave Event in Texas next week.
Also thanks to IDboating because ironically my Speedset touch pad was on its last leg today. It will only speed up not down and I ordered his replacement unit. I will have to change that soon.
I thought about building a copy but my time is in short supply and not sure the home made version would hold up in reverse orientation as I ran.
That is interesting, running it reversed. But isn't the Delta gate right at 90*? If so it doesn't change the angle to run it in reverse, you're just able to move the gate closer to the rear of the boat? I'll be building a new one this week as mine fell off due to some large waves hitting it and knocking it off, and breaking my leash in the process.
Like fighting a big fish only to have it break your line. It was a sad day. So I'm interested in why exactly running in backwards worked better. Is that something you just came up with or does Delta tell you to try it?

No, it's different. When running in the reverse position, you take the faceplate off and put it on backwards....
The face of the delta is tapered...
Here is a pic I found on another forum that you can kinda tell. The faceplate of the delta should always face forwards...
Had my first run with my DIY Delta. I decided to fill everything up - 750 lb bag in each rear locker, 600 lb (approx) in the bow. Gate on port side. It was a failure. At 13 mph the wake wouldn't clean up - didn't want to go faster and risk losing my gate. Obviously too heavy in the rear. I then pumped out roughly half the water in the rear bags - so around 350 lbs each, and saw a better result. Taps was set to 2. The wave looked ok, relatively clean curl, pocket was still short, maybe a foot or two longer than listed but I didn't have enough push to go ropeless. It could be me. I'm a new surfer. I'm using a Ronix Powertail (the big version 5 ft as I'm 220 lbs.)
