I shrugged it off thinking it might have been the wave of water that Suck Gate sent over my sun deck when we were going 16MPH. However this was far too much water for that to be the case. This morning something didn't seen right so I went out to take a look. I was hoping that I didn't puncture a bag or have a hose fitting or thru hill that was leaking. Carpets were dry, bags have no damage, thru hulls were still under water and not leaking out the bottom.
Finally discovered that one of the transom storage compartments had evidence of water in one of them and a pretty pronounced water stain trail from the compartments drain in the engine compartment. Seems that Suck Gate was dumping water over the back corner on top of the transom storage compartments which was draining into my engine compartment. As a solution I may just plug the drain and let the compartment fill up.
So if you have these compartments in your boat you may want to position Suck Gate deep enough so the water doesn't come over the edge or plug the compartment drains. Different hull designs may dictate how far under water you can position the gate. Adding weight would alleviate this by pushing Suck Gate farther under water.
Here is the best pic I have of Suck Gate throwing water over the back corner.

Looks great!! Since we have the same boat where are you placing yours? What are the dimensions of your plate? I have had spray as well but not that big..

Placing it on the edge of the step down about 1.5' from the back. I have been angling it downward a few degrees.

After about 17 hours of use on mine, the pin is rusting and showing wear. I'd look for a stainless pin and use it. I'm sure I'll head that direction soon.

I'm stoked I found this thread! My aluminum suction cup is arriving today and I hope to complete the build and try tomorrow. My question is, has anyone experimented with the angle to see what angle works best? I see the most of you have built in a 10 or so degree sweep. Is this because that is what the Delta uses, or did it come about by trial and error? The Ronix device really has a lot of sweep...looks to be 45-50 degrees. Thanks in advance.

Once I put the pin back in there was still enough room to re-mushroom the end of the pin. Worked well for me. Anyways, once the pin is out the whole thing falls apart.

Where at on the waterline is everyone installing these? Fully submerged or slightly out of the water. Is this going to be low enough or do I need to go below where it angles in. This will effect my design. I think with 600lbs in each locker it will almost be completely submerged where it's shown since my water line is typically at the swim deck unweighted.

The plastic one was easy to pop apart. I just folded the rubber back and didn't bother taking the metal one apart. If you go this route be sure to drill your holes closer to the edge so you can get your screws and a washer in there. Wasn't easy to get the 1" screws in but wasn't that hard either.
Skiguy, As far as weight. I used to run 1100lbs rear and 400 front listed. Tried to run 2200lbs in the back and well, boat would not go beyond 10mph. You will have to play with the weights evenly weighted bud I can say with just 300 on each side and 400 in the front i was able to produce a wake that was as good as 1100lbs listed. Also, it doesn't have to be fully submerged to work. You will get more spray from it but if it is only partially submerged when you install it it will be submerged when you take off.

Mine is at 10 Degrees and works perfectly. (ran the delta through cad and I came up with 11 Degrees.) I don't know why but that 1 degree just seemed to be too much to me when I compared it to pics of the delta so I scaled back. lol
Honestly after seeing how these things work you could from 1-15 and it would still work IMO. But 10 does work for sure.

Mission Boat Gear Delta - Universal Surf Gate!
Just tried mine with the aluminum handle upgrade and it works awesome it also stayed on at 13 mph as I forgot to set my speed controller. I angled the plate down at bit to keep the spray down. The aluminum version of the handle cup pin is riveted on so you can't remove the cup to get the hardware in but I was able to shimmy a 1 inch screw in there fairly easily. I then held the screw head with some needle nose vise grips while I tightened the nut on top. Also while adapting mine from the plastic handle to the aluminum handle I match driled the holes from the plate to the handle and while doing that got carried away with the speed of the drill and the sharp bit and it went right through the suction cup which of course ruined my cup. Bummed I got desperate so I tried gluing the hole shut with my wife's hot glue gun and it worked perfect go figure. This is a photo with two people no ballast on a rough lake (I know not a big wake but I know my boat can make one) can't wait to see it with 750 lb in each locker and people in the boat image.jpgLast edited by acropilotbret; 06-25-2016, 04:56 AM.
