Interesting. I don't see how that doesn't infringe on Malibu's patents.

WPG.com has all the pump/cup parts to make this one. Looks like that stuff would cost about $70 to buy, then your plastic. I bet this one could be made pretty cheap and work well. Should be a good winter project for me.

Still, I am convinced that surf-gate style devices are limited in utility. There is a limit to ballast you can run before the water washes over the top of the gate.

They are WONDERFUL for creating a clean wave face, but not so much for creating a powerful and large wave. That is directly proportional to displacement.

Im skeptical for a couple of reasons. I believe there is a difference in ballast in the before and after pic. If the before is stock, after aint. Also, in the before, they left the tow rope on the surf side to further disrupt the face. In the after pic, the rope is on the off side. It also looks as ballast is dumping in the before pic. The after boat looks to be moving faster too, like the before boat is right speed needed to form the wave. Not saying gates dont work, just dont believe thay are the magic potion.

I don't think they are the magic potion, but lm beginning to think they are a very important ingredient in that potion. I really want to weight my boat evenly and have a good surf wave. The only way I know how to do that is with a gate system of some sort. That should hold me over till I can get a taps 3 boat for under $30k.

Did you ever purchase one if these? Interested to see if it worked and worth the $$

I got your pm before seeing this and had forgotten all about this. Sorry about that. I'm in the middle of building a homemade taps 3 system I call taps21. Search for it and you will find that thread about it.
