What was your weight set up for this? People and ballast?
Barely any weight - only about 300-400 in each locker, 300 in the bow walkway, and myself driving + one passenger. Can't wait to throw some more weight at it and see what it can really do!
Taylormoto, that looks great. Can't believe it did that with no ballast. I have the same boat and have been using my gate with well over 1000 pounds of ballast in the rear, closer to 2000 probably and 250 in the front. My wave doesn't look that good. Maybe i'm using to much weight? I'll have to start with no weight and slowly add weight and see what happens.
Also, how did playing with the angle change the wave? What position was best? I think most of us have built our at about an 80* angle. I wonder if less steep is better?

Here is my two since on the whole thing. Just to start I just received my mission delta yesterday to test against. 30 day test run for free so why not. Just to give you some background on me first. I am a prototype engineer and I work with a bit of aero dynamics and fluid dynamics so I am aware of the forces involved. Many have complained of there delta falling off after 30 min to an hr and I know why. Lift is just as strong as downforce and the gap between the boat and gate creates a ton of lift and water will creep with little pressure and making its way under the suction cups. So the neoprene and front ramp became very important. When tested in my wind tunnel it showed very little lift and the turbulence behind the gate also dropped almost 40%. So I decided to test it dry on many boats and realized each boat is very different with hull design, graphic location and depth of hull in the water. I found that best placement for my boat was just under the water when not under way and placed about a foot in front of the transom. I made my ride plate the same size as the Delta and found that at 80-90° was way too hard on everything. Motor was working hard at 1000rpm over normal and almost impossible to turn opposite the gate just as I thought it would. Maybe on a much larger boat with a lot more power this wouldn't be an issue. 2002 21v riders’ edition. I found that 30-45° ended up being the sweet spot for everything. As for the suction I tried to get the thing to come off but couldn't get it to budge. I am going back today with lead, sacs, people and boards to play around with moving weight around. After calculating the displacement of my boat with weight I am thinking 300lbs each rear and 350lbs up front under the seats. I have the bags to put 1200lbs in each rear and I can put up to 1000lbs up front so I will let you know what weight ends up being correct. Next will be a new prop. I am looking into new props now and looking for suggestions. We are all goofy riders if that makes a difference.
Taylormoto, how was the surf this weekend? I'm looking forward to an update. What was the best set up in terms of ballast and gate position that you found?
Update:
I changed the plastic body suction cup with the aluminum body and it worked perfect. I think that not only the plastic vs aluminum helped, but also the suction cups on the aluminum body unit was much stronger. I will experiment more with my setup, but I ran about 1000 lbs in the rear lockers and 400 lbs in the front. I did find that we needed to put people on the side of the rider just to clean up the face a bit. It wasn't the cleanest looking wake, but tremendous amount of push and the ease of switching from one side to the other was awesome. I will take some pics next time I go out.
Also, I noted that the "rooster tail", for lack of better term, that the wedge created was in direct proportion of the wake....meaning if the rooster tail was smooth and clean, the wake was smooth and clean. Anything below or above the correct MPH made an incredibly turbulent rooster tail.
Taylormoto, Love to hear an update and also get a better look at your engineering creation. Love to know where you bought the adjustable pole bracket and parts.

after cutting down never had it come off, I still prefer listed wave, but I setup the goofy wave for my daughter and it was a pretty legit wave. I'll to post that next
