I ended up buying one too from the boat show for $50 off. Bought it from our local boat shop (AWS in Oregon City). Good news if it I'm not happy with it, they said I could return it for a full refund (or store credit more likely...can't remember). Either way. I was nervous about the look of the Velcro so I changed it up a little.

I used their Velcro mostly but then added in some black which I got online from 3M, (their industrial outdoor and water resistant kind) and cut it to match my hull colors as I have a "swoop" headed towards the water in the rear. I bet no one would notice the Velcro from more than 10' away if I didn't tell them it was there and when it's in the water, you will barley see it. I can post pics later.

Almost started a new thread but was afraid some people were watching this one for an update. Tried the DIY wedge out today and I am pleased with the results. It is going to take a lot of tuning to get the end results we all look for but over all I think it is a step in the right direction. This being the first trip out I did not play with it a lot but this is the wedge installed with 450 pounds in each rear locker with the TAPS at 1. If I let up on the taps at all the wave washes out. I guess the next step is to move some weight to the front and add more to the rear. It did clean the wave up as predicted though. I think It may have made the wave a little steeper as well. If you have any ideas for what to try let me know and I'll give it a go.IMG_0764.jpgIMG_0767.jpgIMG_0771.jpgIMG_0772.jpgIMG_0773.jpgIMG_0783.jpgIMG_0786.jpg

I couldn't stomach the $600 price tag on the Ronix Wake Shaper so I started working on one that I hope will produce similar results for under $100.

@jbgp1200. Which side you gonna turn out?? You gave me an idea for mine to see if the width makes a difference. I believe I can attach a peice of plexi to the outside that is wider to test the theory.

Does anyone know the approximate dimensions of the ronix wake shaper or the approximate dimensions I should go with if I try to do this myself? Would like to get started on this project, but cant find dimensions anywhere. My thought is plexi glass filled with styrofoam so hopefully it floats and attaching with velcro just like the wake shaper. There are a ton of posts on here so I may have missed the demensions so if someone could point them out it would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

here is another option of holding it on as some others are doing on some other forums and just using a short rope tether for insurance, and one guy spray foamed the inside of it too.

I'm guessing you were going to post a link to that suction cup handle but the link didn't show up.

Plan was the white side out since it has the rivets and Ide rather not scratch my boat.

While making this I had another idea using suction cups that Is currently a work in progress. If it works I may not Velcro this one to my boat.

@jbgp1200 what are the approximate dimensions of the one you had in the picture before or do you know the approximate dimensions of the ronix one? I am going to try and do my own today and my thought is compressed foam, so siding insulation, gluing it together then rhino lining the entire thing to seal it. only dimensions I have seen are about 12 inches wide by 24 inches long by 11 inches tall. Is that about right? Thanks!

Awesome thanks @jbgp1200 I was going to do 24x12x11 so I am glad I asked. I will make it wider and go with about 15 inches wide then probably 10 inches tall. I will post pics when im done.
