Aftermarket Surf Gate

Found this site online today, mission boat gear. they manufacture an aftermarket surf gate system that slides onto your swim platform, it is currently only available for Malibu and axis boats but a universal design is coming soon. what are your guys thoughts?? I know tige just came out with a taps 3 system but for people who don't want a new boat this might be a neat idea. It my be hard with different brands having different sizes of lips on there swim platforms.

I just looked at this the other day....Its all over Instagram...looks interesting but I wonder how much strain it puts on the ski platform? and I wonder how it performs with ballast in the boat as well.....thoughts anyone?

Do you still weigh down the surf side and the gate goes on the opposite side?

Many of these system dont seem to reduce the need for ballast, just shift its placement. you have to sink the boat in order to displace the water.

I rode behind an Axis A20 with a set of these, just over the weekend. Made a remarkable difference in the push of the wake. With these and the stock ballast in the boat at max, I was able to ride for quite a while on a liquid force fish that I'd never been able to ride ropeless. I'm definitely thinking about getting a set or modding a set to work on my 08 tige platform.

I would be interested to know if anyone has tried them on an RZ hull, I am still looking into making a Taps3 with Lenco electric tabs

How was the steering while one of these was being used? Has anyone been able to figure out how big it can be made and still have good steering?

Not sure I would want to be sticking mass amounts of Velcro to the side of my boat but the idea of evenly distributed weight has me curios about whether or not it works. Have my doubts and $600 for a brick of plastic is a bit steep. But less expensive them some alternatives.

if it works, easier than drilling more holes in the boat. anyone try yet, curious to see!

I was just thinking this. Maybe the velcro is a better solution then drilling into your boat or putting what appears to me would definitely be at least a little stress on the swim platform with the clamp on models. Hell if it does what it says it can do I may have to pull the trigger. Just wish the price was a bit more reasonable for what it is. $350 and i bet they would sell 4 times as many.
