    New Wakesurfer

    Hello all,

I would like to start to wakesurf. I'm already pretty good at wakeboarding and really good at waterskiing. I have a 2004 Tige 21i boat and I weigh about 210lbs @ 6'1". I dont want to spend a ton of money on a board, but want a decent board that I can learn on. Does anyone have some suggestions on a board for me? Does anyone have a used board they would like to sell?

    Thanks,
    Scott

I have trouble finding used boards for sale in my neck of the woods. If buying new, might try an Inland Surfer Taco, Liquid Force Fish, or CWB Ride. Sometimes you can buy these in a package with a rope.

CWB Ride is a pretty good board to learn on. $200ish at Academy.

I'm about your size and that's what we started on - we teach newbies on that board before letting them try our others.

I would also look at the Hyperlite Broadcast 5' 4". Its a great beginner to intermediate surfer. Great price, usually around $330 or so depending on who's selling it.

ive been riding an older CWB Tsunami 4.9. Im 200+ and have no issue riding it and have learnt many a newbe on it. It will not take you as far as a higher end board, but a good board for cheap and to use a community board.

We are looking for another board to make the collection up to 3 boards.
Current boards are a Ronex one skimmer 4,10 and the other is a liquid force custom quad 4'8
We are all in the 140 to 160lbs range.

Any suggestions for a third board that is not hard to ride??

I learned on a Blue Lake as others have. I now ride the CWB Tsunami as Chpthil suggested. Great skim style board and very responsive. I can do 360's on mine and I am at 190lbs. I have others boards too and all ride different. I have not ridden the Blue Lakes in a while till yesterday. It was fun, stable, easy and a great surf style board. I forgot how fun that board can be. But I and others on my boat love the CWB. Now there are a lot of others out their far better. Best thing is to try them out if you can. Listen to us and read reviews and choose the board that best will fit your style. As a side note, stay away from thin fiberglass models and get something that can take a strike.

I have been riding a Hyperlite Broadcast for the last 2 years, just picked up a 2014 Ronix 4'5" power tail and a 5'1" Ronix Koal Thruster. Unfortunately we won't get to try them out until Father's Day weekend.

the hyperlight broadcast is a great board to learn on. We have tought a dozen or so people on it and the experts still take it out and use it.
