    Getting up

    I am having trouble getting up! Are you guys starting on your knees and then standing up or keeping you feet on the board as the boat starts? I have never wakeboarded either and my wife is learning to drive the boat at the same time so I know these small items don't help either. Also is it better to try to get to speed quickly or a little slower? (10mph)I have gotten up a few times but not consistanetly yet. Sure is a blast though! I am useing a red inland surfer.

    We have a 24Ve and have found for surfing we run a 11mph and taps at 2 or 3. it seems to make the cleanest wakes. As for getting up, if you have surfed in the ocean before, you can get up with a short line, ours is about 15' long, from your stomach as you drop in. another way we start is in the water, heels on the edge of the surf board, put boat in idle forward, when the rope gets tight, push down with your heels which should bring the board up against the bottom of your feet. Then slowly, smoothly roll the power in. Stand up as you feel the pressure on the board. if you don't get up within the length of the board. start over. same goes for wakeboarding. The last way we get up is standing on the swim deck and gettin to speed then sliding off into the wake.
    Keep at it , when you break the code, you'll find it is easy.

      We have a 22V and surfed for the first time a week ago. We started with our heels on the back side of the board and put the boat into gear. Once in gear the water pressure will cause the board to rise up to your feet, when this happens then we rolled on the throttle and boing your up and riding. I got up on the second try and my buddy got up on the first. We rode at 11 to 11.5 mph, Taps at 4, no ballast and 4 people in the boat. I believe it was easy for me to get up on my surfboard because of already knowing how to wakeboard.
      Good luck Tony.

        you could try a teak start. It is hard at first to trust leaning back off of the platform but once you get it. It's easy.

          Tony,
          You can try the platform starts, but I did scratch the crap out of my boat and platform. We normally do deep water starts, or heels on the board then boat in gear untill the board flips up to your feet then the driver will take off and pull you right up. We run at 10.5 with full taps, but everyone is different. I just learned how to do it this year and tried all the different ways to get up and found that the heels on board works the best for me.
          Good Luck

            Heel starts just as the other guys said. Teak starts only for an experienced rider (sorry, it's a safety issue). It helps if you know how to wakeboard. The real trick is not to push against the board like you do when you're skiing. Just let it ride underneath you and once you're over it, try standing up.

              Tony;
              I have a 24V. I usually fill the rear port ballast, have an additional 440# of steel plate ballast, 3-4 people, and set the taps around 3. HUGE clean faces. Do you have a Perfect Pass? We have ours set at 11.6 mph. We all use the deep water heel starts. It may take a couple of trys, but stick with it. It becomes brainless. NO TEAK STARTS in California, unless you want a FAT ticket. I have talked to the Sheriffs on the Delta near Disco Bay, and their cool with the whole Wake surfing thing, but if they see anyone on the rear pad, or on the teak, with the boat moving... Reckless boating is just the start of the ticket. they will find everything possible and add it to the list. DON'T DO IT!!

              Have a GREAT time !!

                Thanks for the help guys but when you say heel starts do you mean your heels are on the edge of the board? or on the top? Are you holding onto the board with one hand? And yes i do have Tige' accu set. Thanks again!

                  Tony;
                  Heres how it works... your rope is around 11-12' long. You place the board in the water at a right angle to your body. The front of the board needs to be pointing in the same direction of the face of the wake you are surfing. Center your feet abot shoulder width apart on the board with your heelsabout 1/3 of the way towards the center. Feels awkward but dont worry. Have the boat idle forward, The force of the water will make the board stand up and push against your feet. Roll up the throttle and let the board come into you ( NO stiff legs). Stand up and your now SURFING!!

                      Is it just me or does the narrator from how to wakesurf.com sound almost identical to Mr Rogers from Mr Rogers Neighborhood?

                          one other thing... if your wife is just learning how to pull, have her try accellerating to 3000 RPM and then backing off just a little till the speed control takes over.

                              You'll be on the driver's side (starboard). You may need to add more weight to that side to compensate for the prop rotation if your wake washes out. I didn't really have an issue with that, but some people have.
