Adding more ballast to a R20

Has anyone added the Fly High Tige 59" ballast bag to their R20/RZR? I currently have the piggy back 750lbs. bag but it obviously doesn't fill all of the way due to the locker size. I want to build the best wave I can without getting the VX for now.

    Thanks Zach

The 59" sacs are only 770's and I really doubt you are going to get much more weight out of them that your current 750's. At $520 a piece seems like little to no return on a sizable investment.

For the money, I would suggest the W005 84" sac. This will absolutely yield a return on your investment. Not because of the added weight, but because of the correctly placed threaded ports, you can convert your base ballast to the surf ballast plumbing. Much more effective then a "piggy back" sac setup. The W005 and W004 are L shaped and designed for the Tige boats. I would with out hesitation, do the W005 on the port side and STBD side. Even though the 84" W005 is a little long for the STBD side, the difference in added ballast out weights the $20 difference.

Are you saying that I would have to change the piggy back plumbing to use the W005 bag?

zach, I have the w004 bags and i got them from chpthril. I went with the w004 because the previous owner of my boat installed a sub enclosure in the storage compartment under the glovebox so I have limited storage space only on the side lockers. if you dont have storage issues then go with w005, they pretty much take up the entire side storage lockers. ill take pictures of my bags on friday for you.

Knowing where the threaded ports are located on both sacs, its a safe bet that the current "piggyback" hose routing will have to be reconfigured. With the W004 or W005, you can convert the plumbing as if your boat was originally built with the Surf Ballast option.

I am not sure what to I need to do for actual "Surf Ballast Option". But would I be able to just lengthen my "piggy back" option to finish out the season and do it right next season? Do you have the bags and parts I would need and how much? Also would I be able to have it shipped to Oregon and installed by 8-13-14? Have a four day trip planed and want to improve my wave.

              Thanks
