    2001 21i surf setup

I have been playing with various setups to get a surfable wake. Right now I dont have any fat sacks or ballast and have been having to have 3 people on one side and going about 15 mph to get a chance at a surfable wave, and it's terrible. I have a 6'6 suftboard and a landlock board. Do I need a 9ft longboard?

What is the right ballast setup / suftboard combo for this boat?

Thanks for your help - watching others surf is killing me!!

You need some sacs bro. Ski locker sacs should work well for you. Put on in the trunk and one in the bow walkthrough, set your taps to 8 and put all your people on one side and you'll be golden. Should produce good, clean, thigh high wake. Landlock sould be fine. Don't give up.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

NICKYPOO's right. You also might want to slow it down a bit. 15 MPH is a bit fast. We normally go around 9.8 MPH or 10 MPH. I wouldn't take it much above 11. Make sure the front-to-back ballast weighting is even, that way when you move the people to one side, you get a nice deep wake that's not washed out.

I will get two 400# masterline fat sacks - put one under the rear seat and the other in the center walk-thru and see what happens. hopefully that is enough if it's just me and a driver and we slow it down a bit. thanks

Also, check out the site http://www.howtowakesurf.com. The boat you will see in that picture is a 1999 Tige 21i. You may also want to consider an FAE system if you're going to do a lot of wakesurfing.

surfdad will also have some good tips for you. You may want to PM him.

I dunno about that fae man. That report I read seemed pretty inconclusive...

I can tell you this, I, along with everyone else who has been on the boat this year, have all noticed dramatic improvements from last year when I didn't have an FAE. Everyone of them have commented on how much nicer it is. I never noticed how much CO I was breathing untill I wasn't breathing it any more. HUGE difference. We all feel so much better at the end of the day. It's like quiting smoking. It's not even so much the rider as it is the passengers. I now know exactly how bad the station wagon effect is in these boats. It's worse than you think. The only thing I wish I had done was put it on sooner.

Hey, it's your body...might wanna check with your boating buddies how they feel about it before you completely dismiss it. I've met Larry Mann, he's one of those dudes who always has to do things the right way to a fault. Check out the study he commissioned, it's official. Nothing inconclusive about it whatsoever.
