    RZR weighting

Can I get some surfing tips on how to weight our new RZR? I have the surf ballast. We filled the surf side 100% on both bow and stern tanks and I had 3 adults in the surf side corner. Had the speed at 11mph(touch screen preset). I am about 195lbs. and the wake sure doesn't look like the picture. Tried the taps at 2 -7. Not sure if it's the speed or what. Any help would be awesome!

You'll get some good tips soon but dialing a wave is not necessarily automatic or easy, but it's easier on a tige. It took me 3 trips to help my friend dial in the wave on his V-Ride and it's rideable, but it's not easy to get it there.

I think the bow needs to be full and it helps to have a little ballast (maybe 1/4 to 1/2) in the non-surfing side rear. I know others will help and we are still working to dial ours in too.

      Oops, that's for our Z3.

Also, what pictures are you talking about. The stock surf system is good, but most people on here, and Wake9, are running much bigger bags in the lockers to get those bigger waves you see. Chpthrill can set you up with some bigger bags to just unplug the stock tige bags and add bigger custom bags.

I'm sure there are multiple ways to do it, but here is what I have been doing:

Fill both sides of the bow 100%, fill rear surf side 100%, and only the hard tank on the non-surf side. Put the adults in the surf side and maybe move them around a bit to experiment. That should make a decent wave.

Also, I have heard that the goofy side wave has a white wash problem if you do not have the VX, so that might be a problem.

Finally, I would recommend getting some larger surf bags in the rear if you can swing it. Get ahold of chpthril on this board and he can hook you up.

There are some good threads around about RZR/R20 weighting. You want the front full both sides and I like to fill just the surf side. I don't think it helps to put any weight in the off side. Like Supreme said you really need bigger bags to get the wave you are seeing in pictures. The factory surf ballast isn't nearly enough, especially if you have the VX. We surf at 10.8 with just enough TAPS to clean. Without the VX it is almost impossible to get a clean wave goofy side. Its still very surf able, but there is a lot of wash. Thats due to the prop rotation.

Thanks for all the feedback. I do have the convex vx on the boat. I will try filling both bow tanks and the surf side stern tank. Does off setting all that weight put stress in the hull? We all ride regular and haven't even tried the goofy side, so shouldn't have a problem there. What are you referring Tomas the "hard tank"?

We fill the bow and the srf side completely - no offside weight. Then move people around. We run taps at 3-4 and go 10.8-11mph. We have installed the custom sac from Chrthrll and will be using this weekend for the first time so we will see. We also added a surf flap to redcue wash because on the goofy side it is horrible. We do not have the vx but everyone says they like weight. Good luck. These pics are with the factory surf ballast, me driving 185lbs and my daughters friend in surf corner maybe 110lbs

@Palle. In the back you have a hard tank under the floor and the soft bag in the compartment. The tank is 250 and the bag is an additional 350Lbs. With the VX thats not nearly enough to get the large wave.

We fill our VX equipped RZR 100% front and 100% surf side locker. We have the Custom Enzo shaped Sacs in our lockers for a total of 1000lbs if they fill all the way. I would speculate we get about 850-900 in either locker including the hard tanks.

Speed is 10.6 for Regular rider (Port surf) and 11 for Goofy rider (Starboard Surf). Some images from last Sat. this was the first time out this season and we did just as we do everytime last season. And voila, surfing machine.

Also something to consider, what is your water depth. A lot of people don't realize shallow water kills a surf wave. Form what we have found anything less than 12-13 feet starts having an effect. Anything under 10 really crushes the wave.

We are in at least 25 feet of water. I was trying not to have put extra weight in the boat, but it sounds like that is what we will have to do.
