    Wakesurf Board Help

I've been reading many threads, but I'm having trouble coming to a decision. I am 6' 3" 220lbs and I was considering purchasing the Shred Stixx Headband. I currently have a CWB Tsunami and I want to switch to a surf style board that is faster for learning to jump. I'd say I am beginner/intermediate, but I don't want to buy a board that I will grow out of. Are there other options besides the Headband that you would recommend or do you think that is the best board for my situation? I have rode a Shred Stixx Ringer and liked the speed and was able to ride it, but seemed like I was too heavy for it.

    Thanks for the help!

Try an Inland Surfer Sweet Spot Pro, I'm about your weight and it's plenty board for me, nice and quick and turns very sharp, I think you'll like it.

Thanks for the input, I wish I had the opportunity to test a few boards but there isn't anywhere close to us that sells wakesurf boards and let's you test them out. I'll basically have to just order it and hope for the best. Do you think that board will be more durable? I was concerned about the Shred Stixx being fragile.

Or the Inland Surfer Swallow v2. My buddy has no problem and he's about your size, little heavier actually.

Snows56, take a look at the chaos carbon sixer. The 4'8" will more than float you and it is super fast like the standard ringer only more fin options and built to withstand a lot of impact due to the carbon fiber rails, bamboo, and sglass construction.
Also, the new 2014 custom ringer in the 4'8" length is a little thicker with an improved rocker. Of course, i can also make on customizable just for you.

Nick, can you compare the carbon sixer to the headband?

Also, why is there two different Shred Stixx websites?

The carbon sixer is a performance board and designed to take advantage of the better wakes thrown by today's boats and ballast systems.
The Headband is simple and update of the old Mako/Ja Mako. It is a good all around board, but not nearly as fast.
The two websites are indicative of the custom made in the USA line and the chaos line (www.shredstixxusa.com).
The other site may eventually be just a landing page to direct people to various sites, whether US or international.

Had a guy give me a good deal on a Ronix Parks Carbon Thruster, hopefully that will work out pretty well.

There are several big fans of that board here on TO. I know they have tweaked fin set ups too. Hopefully they will chime in.

                      Snows56,

As Duncan indicated you want to shelf those silly little plastic ronix fins and get some decent FCS or FCS two-tab style fins.
Let me know and I can set you up with some good fins.

I am closer to 240lbs, and I went with a Phase 5 Trident (with the Ronix Carbon Thruster being my alternate). Unfortunately it's still snowing here so I can't comment on it just yet!

I have been reading that a lot about replacing the fins, are they really that bad? Also, I'm having trouble figuring how to orientate the fins... all I keep reading is there 1,000 different ways, but I want to know a place to start.

Start with thruster, 3-fins, start with them furthest back. Then you can move them up and rearrange. The idea is for the fins to be more or less under your rear foot, so your stance and your sweet spot on the board will come into play in finding the set up that works best for you.

                              I'm a bigger guy and just bought the PHASE 5 Model X in a 4'10". I'ts a hybrid skim/surf. Can't wait to rip it.

Can't go wrong with PHASE 5 durability. My PHASE 5 Daniello Diamond flew out of the boat last summer on the highway at 55 (some ediot klown forgot to tie it down) and came out with not much damage...a few scratches but nothing to compromise structural'

My girlfreind was driving/towing the boat to the dock.... and was told to keep in under 40 on a 45mph road. She actually sustained more damage than the board.....sic....haha
