Carbon Thruster (Can you beat it?)

OK So I am in the market for a surf style board for this year. I recently had a chance to ride the Ronix Carbon Thruster, and it felt incredible. I've never felt more control out of a board. I hadn't surfed in months and after 30 seconds on this board I was at home. I've seen some pretty good reviews on the board in this forum and thought I'd get an opinion.

Right now I'm just about ready to go get one. At that price I'm wondering if anyone has a favorite they would compare to it that I should demo before making up my mind.

    Thanks

=) ALSO THE sickest board I have ridden nothing compares to it.. and the new 2013 has some added tweaks that make it even more fun to ride.. Ive ridden about everything

Honestly, if you get on a board and feel that good about it, you should buy it and stick with it!

Sounds like you've known the answer all along. I have one and its a home run in its own right.

            Have great summer.

I purchased one early last season and we, our family, and friends spent the entire summer on it. We LOVE it. My 10YO son throws it around, I'm getting my first airs, and even the newbies prefer it (once they show some basic skills and we're comfortable they won't shoot it into the swim platform!).

More: We went out with Ewok (on this site) and did a side-by-side comparison with his new Inland Surfer Sweet Spot Pro. Ewok preferred his new board, while I and another friend preferred the new Carbon Thruster. The difference for me seemed to be fin placement: On the IS board, the fins are more aft and I found the board very squirrely. I was able to overcome this by moving my rear foot more and more aft. It ended up literally on top of the "bump" back there; while very uncomfortable, this moved the fins "forward" relative to my rear foot and gave me much more control. The Carbon Thruster's fin boxes are already mounted more forward, so I can keep my rear foot on the normal flat portion of the board and still have control.

Obviously this fin-vs-foot placement may just be my personal weirdness, but I thought it worth sharing the entire experience. Hopefully Ewok will chime in here with "the rest of the story" as I know he's really happy with the SSPro.

BTW, the ability to play around with all of the Carbon Thruster's fin options is incredibly fun. It comes with five short and five tall fins to mix and match in the board's seven fin boxes. We've dialed in a couple of configurations for different purposes and it's remarkable to feel the effect that just a bit more fin length, or more/fewer fins, can have on speed and control.

I'd buy another Carbon Thruster in a heartbeat and highly recommend it.

EDIT: We're on the shortest, 4-7 length board and have never wished it were longer. I can't imagine going a whole FOOT longer to the new 5-7 board... wow.

Which FCS 5's are you using? I did a quick Google search and "FCS 5" returns all sorts of shapes and heights. If they improve the Carbon Thruster even more I'd love to get a set... which ones?

Ah good info thanks. Ya my mind was partially made up. just looking for someone to get on here and say hell no try X board so I could do so. I don't know anyone selling Inland Surfer in Austin. I'll have to look around. Their website shows the only local dealer being an online store.

ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE BUCKS for fins?!?

What are they made of, sintered unobtainium?

And if I'm reading that correctly, that's PER FIN?!?

I have ridden the carbon thruster and liked it a lot. It was incredibly fast and responsive.
