    Looking for a new ride

I know it's not the time most think about getting out on a new board but I am. It keeps me sane in this cold wet weather in the NW.

Beginner-intermediate (180lb ish) rider I guess as we have only been surfing for a season now on a beginner Liquid Force Fish. I have ~1900lbs in my 20V & fill 1/2 of it on one side most of the time to get what I would say a medium wake (so technical - I'm not sure how someone would know the size - isn't size all realitive?) I think we have it pretty dialed in but it's someting that you never stop tinkering with.

The Fish is what it is. A beginner board to learn on in my VERY megar opinion. It's great for that. Very stable, long, & I would guess slow but have no comparison.

It's time for something different. I think my next step is to get a "hybrid" surf/skim type board (how about calling it a skirf...na sounds weird) that I have heard about. I want to start getting better off the wake and attempting more tricks. Knowing that I don't, and won't, have the opportunity to demo anything now or in the near future, it seems there are almost too many opinions and options out there. It's like trying to buy...well...anything for my wife. I have heard Phase 5 has some good boards that could fit. I have also read threads from Alann Kendall and Surfdad that are very technical and have great information but I still won't be able to take their advice and demo.

I know you guys can help out. Thanks.

I've got a nearly new skim style BYERLY Volt..I think it's a 4'10 or 4'11" I'll sell it to ya cheap..like 125 bux. Thing is mint. Probably ridden no more than a hours worth of water time. Forgot what I paid but it was alot more than 125. Im 6'0" 180 and it floats me fine.

I'm using a much smaller board these days. The girl also like the short as* boards. I was keeping it around for visitors BUT I'd could use some quick cash. Quality board and does anything you want it to..360's..whatever

I rode the phase5 colt at the polar bear. it's being touted as a hybrid. I didn't like it. not thick and stable like a surf style and not able to spin like a true skim board.

imo, choose one style or the other and get a board that excels in that category. I keep 3 skimboard in the garage, but have switched to surf style and have 2 that way.

Thanks guys. I went ahead and ordered a Phase5 modelx. Just seemed to be a good fit for my situation and needs. I'll report back with how I do on it as whatever happens, I'm sure it won't be the board.
