3/4" thick wakesurf board build

I've been working on a super thin - 3/4" to be exact, wakesurf board with traditional surf style bottom concave, directional shape and with Futures rail fins, but again only 3/4" thick and with super sharp skim board'ish rails.

Sort of a tip of the hat to Nick and his Walzer and Calibrated in the now defunct "wakesurf style" boards.

Thanks guys. I haven't ridden it yet and so I didn't want to find the "snap"'ing point on this, just yet. I did bounce myself off of it, just sort of goofing around and decided to see if I could go a tad higher, well the supports sort of shifted and the board slid backwards with the result being that it sent me forward about 3 feet

So you're using Futures boxes. The 3/4 twins or the 1/2" centers? If 3/4, what's your game plan?

So, it looks like your standard shape top and bottom just in 3/4 form. It really looks like an abrupt change in top rail shape from the sides to the "bat tail" if you will, since you've cut out what, 1/2" out of the Daily Driver? How do you anticipate that detail will ride? I've got a detail I want to run by you on that.

I'll be honest, I'm licking my proverbial chops on that thing. I would love to see some "down the rail" shots of it and some "tail detail" shots.

My predictions on performance, fast and loose. Just how I like them.

Yeah, it is 1/2" thinner than my DD. The rail fins are unmodified Futures 3/4" depth boxes. There is almost no foam left on the deck side, so I molded these carbon fiber cups to hold the boxes into the board.

I had to do some extra work to get the boxes into the foam, but it sure feels well anchored.

The rails are SHARP nose to tail, just like you LIKE them I think I have shot somewhere, I'll try and find it.

The end game, was to take the best attributes of the two type of boards and combine them into a single operable board. It has a nice bottom concave, same basic rocker as my DD, but super thin and those sharp skimboard'ish rails.

Ok, a few things, first is the whole wakeboard rack issue, not a problem with this board. Plus you can see it's definately 3/4" thick. I was writing elsewhere, I don't think that's a good reason buy or make one like this, but it's sure convenient to just toss it in a rack with a skimmer.



I'll tell you about the bottom surface treatment one day.

James tested it, he's coming off a flowrider knee injury and was still a tad "tender"



On my first try at a surface 3, like a boss! Remember this thing is 4'5" long, 3/4" thick and I'm in a full bag dry suit and weight just around 200 pounds












Right? THAT's what you want your board to do! Help you make those d@&n 360's!

One thing most folks have probably experienced is that boards which are fast down-the-line, give up rail-to-rail responsiveness. This thing being so thin, doesn't have that issue. It carried speed into slash'ing really well







I like it, ALOT. Great fun. Honestly, it's not a beginner or entry level board. It's really responsive and for folks that need that extra slow response time, this would just prove an arrgavation, you know? It wouldn't have that fun factor, it would just be a PITA factor. But for intermediate folks, you'll wakesurf better and it's a blast.
