    Board advice

    Looking for 3 boards
    1. Son (8yr 65 lbs)
    * thinking about the Inland Surfer ooze, Phase 5 scamp or Nano Shred stixx?

    2. Me (5 '6, 165lb, beginner, surf style)
*thinking about the Inland Surfer Mucus

    3. Buddies, guest, inlaws etc
    * thinking about the Hyperlite Broadcast 5.4" as an all around boat board

Thx in advance for any and all advice!

    ps-2009 RZ2 throws a great wake!

The broadcast is a great board for what you want to use it for. I know they changed the design for 2013. I really like my broadcast and don't worry about anyone riding it, for both ease and durability.

For the beater board, a broadcast should work, or a used board from a 'better' brand.

If you think your son will prefer surf-style over skim, then the SS-Nano is a great choice.
Otherwise a cheap skim will suffice as he learns.

For yourself, I would recommend looking at one of the new SS models "The Ringer".
It has more room to grow then the mucus, and you could probably leverage a deal by buying two boards from the same manufacture.

The scamp will be best for your boy (and all kids under 12 or so). The Nano is too buoyant whereas the Scamp's thin rail allows them to get the board off their heels (and on to their feet) quicker.

As for you, you should check out the ShredStixx Custom Pro. It's a quad fin with a ton of stability and drive. I ride it as my primary board and think it's awesome.

For an "everyman" (and "everygal") board, I like the Inland Surfer Sweet Spot Pro. Solid board that you can ride as a quad or dual fin.

You can also check out Lakewakes for a Grom board. They have one that will work for your weight range.

I think the mucus would be a better boat board than a broadcast,I would look into twp, soulcraft or a newer shred stixx board for yourself unless you like working for it then any shred stixx will do...
