    Squids R20....

thought I'd throw this out there..

    Boats providing wake:

    2012 Tige R20 (surf system + 2 260lbs bags, nothing wake9 fancy..had to Ragboy).
2012 Tige Z3 (stock ballast system with 10 well placed people).

The difference is there but the similarities are freaky...I think, and I love them both, thank God I get to ride behind both!

..believing is not seeing but surfing...Give me a call and we can do a demo...

R20 = 303-710-7533 and or my surf quiver...the latest most sought after boards on the market.
    Z3 = 303-430-0202

Squids has done some nice R&D to get this awesome wave out of a 20' boat! It rides even better than it looks. Nice work Squid!

Does this mean the big reveal is getting close? I am really looking forward to details on his giant mudflap hinted at in several other threads.

Hi all....I've got a 2012 R20 and with 600# ballast (full bag) on the port, 300# (mid full) ballast on the bow, taps on 2 and 9 mph i am getting a very smooth surf wave measuring about 40" in total height. This is with only a spotter in the boat at the port side. New here so will remember to take pics and share. Thanks.....

Can someone post Squids set up. What is the speed, what is TAPS at, how many people in the boat and how much weight in the rear locker, side, and also bow. Thanks!

                Patryk,

I've spoken with Squid some awhile back and here is what I've been doing. Keep in mind that I'm still experimenting, but right now I have a nice clean surf wake, deep pocket and lots of push. I believe I am very close to Squids setup, except I may be using more bow weight. I, like many others, am waiting for his "final report" with his R&D, as he has experimented a lot since I talked with him.

The facts: my R20 only has stock ballast. We usually surf with 4 adults and one child.

                Setup:
All factory tanks full, in my case 400# in bow and both 250# rear hard tanks.
I've added a 400# sac surf side locker, which basically gets me to surf ballast setup.
Two 260# sacs on surf side seat and across back seat, as far surf side I can get it.
One 400# sac surf side bow.
Crew sits on sacs or back sun deck as much as possible.

                Taps between 1 & 3
Speed 12.6 mph - although a gps app on my phone says I'm actually going 11 - 11.5 mph, which I believe probably closer represents my actual speed.

What I've found is that I need a surfer with rope in hand until I get the wake dialed in. To do this I empty some water out of the non surf side aft tank until I get a lot of slack in the rope. We had our best session yet last weekend using this system. Like I said, we are still tweaking our setup and trying different things as well. What I want to try next is using a 260# sac in bow and using only one 400# sac on seat.

I also know that Squid also uses some sort of mudflap... Can't wait to see what that's all about.

One thing I'm going to do this offseason is take my swim deck to a fiberglass guy and have him fill in the bottom of the deck around the edges to eliminate that lip. That should help clean the wake even more.

                Hope this helps

The similarity in the wakes shape doesn't surprise me, as those are tiges 2 most recent hulls, I would imagine there's some similarities in the overall running surface

The Tige wave/wake is already awesome (on the RZ2 we have), so I can just imagine adding the Convex VX system to the boat later this year!
