    Beginner board

So Ive been kicking around the idea of surfing, normally a wakeboarder. Tried an old hyperlite wakeboard out minus the old sandle bindings just to see if I like it or not, obviously too small of board to ever think about letting go. So Im hooked.

Last weekend borrowed an older Hyperlite Coex with only a few people in the boat, not enough weight. That board seem way too short for me at 180lbs. Ive read a lot of biginners like the Hyperlite Broadcast and its not a bad $. My question is do I go with the 4'9" or the 5'6"? Oh running a pre2150 so far 900#s ballast plus people. So never going to be a huge wake but still a nice wake

    I have the 5'6. It's a good board.

Yep, I vote for the 5'6" as well. We have that and pretty much everybody can get up on it. You'll want to upgrade if you want to do tricks but this is great to have for beginners.

Are there any other biginner boards that you would recommend?

I rode the 6'1" Ronix "Duke" last week, it is the easiest board I've seen to ride. even easier than the Broadcast. It is pricey and you will want a new board soon I would guess but that thing will surf any wake out there. I started on the Broadcast and it has got quite a number of my friends and their families up surfing

If you do a search it seems the Broadcast is the favorite. If you move on it is good to keep as a boat board for anyone to ride. As was mentioned anyone can have a blast on it and it is durable. I would hate to drop a bunch of coin on a better board and have it ruined by a newbie.

I believe the CWB ride is similar but reviews seems to favor the Hyperlite over it.

Thanks for the quick responses sounds like the broadcast is going to be my next ride

Good choice for a starter board! Enjoy

The Inland Surfer Mucus (surf style) or Black Pearl (skim style) would be good choices if you want a board that will progress beyond the "just a beginner" board.

I will have to check those out too. I can get up on just about any board, just cant go wireless on the small Coex or my old wakeboard (the ones that look like an old surf board, single fin). Ive stood on kneeboard before kinda fun very slick with no fins

The Black Pearl only comes with one fin but has holes to make it a tri- fin board. Purchase the extra two fins so as a beginner you ride with all three fins but as you progress you can go down to 2 or 1 fin. Check them out:

Good looking boards, $$ though. But spend $300 now and out grow it or $500 and it last a lot longer. I'll have to think on that one

Seems like most people that start with a beginner board always want a better board really soon. But you also don't want newbies crashing an expensive board into the swim deck.

Haha Funny you would mention that because I ran a borrowed board up on the swim deck this weekend. First time I ever done that one. But best wake Ive got out of the boat yet. Still working on balancing it out, I think I need more bow weight to add some length to the sweet spot.
