    New season

Just wondering if anybody has any plans for upgrading their wakesurf season, i.e. new boards, ballast, motor mods, ect.

As for me I'm going to install the Fresh Air Exhaust here in a few weeks. Hopefully it will go smooth.

Do you have an ETA on your FAE?
Larry told me that most of them would ship around the 12th of March.

The first weekend after I get mine, I will be doing the installation and then the test drive

Post before, after, and during photos.

Actually I already have mine. Just need to get off my *** and put it on. You know how it is with 12 hour work days, honey do's, new stereo's, holidays, special events, ect., ect., ect.

Still need that new camera too.

New for myself this season is a boat that should allow me to actually wakesurf. It is the 05 Switch V with a lot of ballast. I know it probably isn't the best wake for surfing but with my budget I got what I could.

Does anyone have a good suggestion on a wakesurf board? I've surfed about 5 times in the past 3 years. I want something that will work best with the wake that I'll have with the Switch V.

Congrats on the new ride. Your going to be just fine with the wake. So far as a board, demo every board you can. They all ride different. I still love my Landlock 5'6". I believe that it is now called the Broadcast 5'6" (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). They are very sable and easy to get up on. They also fit in a regular board rack. Once you get comfortable on that you can put on a set of Hyperlyte 1.1 A-wings (fins) and it will feel like a whole new board for around 20 bucks. It will get real fast and real loose. Just the way we like 'em.

Nicky, Just read the new WBM and it had the Land lock in there and the broadcast. I think it is still called the landlock.
What boat and what weight do you run where?

                http://www.hyperlite.com/06_web/06_index.html

Surf line up for '06. The Coex @ 4'4", 2 Broadcast models, one @ 4'9" and one @ 5'6", and the Landlock @ 5'11". My Landlock is an '02 model I believe. It's the green two fin one from that year. 5'6" with a square tail. I've yet to ride a board with a faster straight line speed. Great for getting way back on the wake and fighting your way back into the zone. Once in the zone it will stay there on it's own. The new 5'6" has a three fin set up. Two 1.3 and one 3.5 (I think). Taking the center fin off would probably make it feel like a complete different board. I think the main thing with learning to wakesurf is finding where the zone, or pocket if you will, is. Having a fast board, I feel, really helps that process along. I've tought a lot of people to surf on that board. I've also got a Trickboardz Surfskate and me and the wife are the only ones to get out on that thing.

So far as weight goes in my 22i, I use locker sacs. One it the trunk (I can do that since it is the old 22i) and one it the bow walk trough.

ive got a 20V and ive got a new coex....i find the it has enough speed to get me back from deep but also loose enough to do 3's on.....ive also tought all my friends to ride on it aswell.....i put 250L fat sac in the back pocket and ride at 9.5 m/h with taps on between 5 and 6 and the wake is huge.

It's an automatic ballast system for my boat this year. The kids are pushing hard for me to upgrade to a six-pack of speakers...not sure where I'd put all those amps...especially not for their rap music.

On my Switch V, I will be putting the Rival ballast system in which will be approx. 1200 lbs. Is the key to surfing behind a 20 ft boat even weighting or just weighting the back end?

                        What I've found:

The more weight you have in the back the taller the wave gets. The more weight you have up front the longer the wave gets. You just have to play around with it and find what you like out of what you can get. If you figure out how to get a wake 4ft. high x 20ft. long that is clean on both sides, let me know.

Nope, a tugboat is ideal (or pretty much any trawler hull). Unfortunately, they won't do wakeboard speeds, but wakesurfing would be another story
