    R20 WAKESURFING

    Hi All,
I just bought a 2012 R20 and have been trying to wakesurf twice now. I've played with the taps and ballast(900lb) and I just can't seen to find the sweet spot where I can drop the rope and truly surf. Does anyone have an R20 that has advice on surf ballast set up.

    Thanks

Welcome to the site glides! We have an owner on here that has the R20 pretty dialed in, I'm sure he will chime in.

Welcome to the site. Post some pics of your boat and wake.

If you are on FB look up Squids Wake and ask, he has a R20 and does surf board demos. His user name on here is Allan Kendall, you can PM him, http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/member.php?u=10002

"Thanks" goes out to Timmy and skippabcool, My Tige brothers are really looking out for the Squid!

            glides,

I have an R20 and its working really well. Rest your mind its just some tweaking and your off.
Welcome to the Family of Tige and (the inter sanctum of the 20 footer surf boat)!

The stock ballast system has plenty of energy to have loads of fun with the family.
The information provided is just a starting point. A place you can then improve upon.

fill surf side tank all the way (like you didn't know that).
fill front horse shoe back 3/4 full (3.5 - 4.0 min).
Fill opposite aft (rear) tank with about 60-75 gal (2.0 - 2.5 min)
Taps at 1 = Surf (steeper transition).
Taps at 2 = skim (smoother transition)
            Speed at 10.2 - 10.8

with this set up go out alone. get is clean and as you add peeps and family distribute the weight evenly as not to disrupt the lean/list of the boat.

            Questions:

            What board are you riding?
            What motor do you have?
Are you having fun, because that what its all about!

Youtube: Squidswake and find ballast testing for a look at my latest setup.
Note, because I have a wake surf demo company I do not have a stock ballast system, but its not much and its all under the seat with all my WIFE"S storage..

Thanks for all the quick responses!
I have a CWB Tsunami surfboard.
              I have the stock 5.0 303hp engine.
I have had the taps plate between 4 and 8. I thought that the higher the number, the bigger the wake. I never tried it at 1 or 2. I'll give it a shot next time out. Btw, we are having a blast out on the lake so far. Water is just getting warm enough to get in without a wet suit. I'll keep you posted on the progress, hopefully with some great pics of the action.

Sweet, you'll be happy with the lower taps numbers. I use higher taps numbers for my Son when he wakebaords..

Please send a pic of your wake! all all love that stuff.

The Tsunami is a great started board, its hard to ding and easier on the wallet after the purchase of a new boat but you could grow out of it quick. I Have one and use it for beginners.

On the chance I offend you, stop reading but I must rant.

                Board choices are endless.

                Some of my favorites are:

Tripple X Slayer 5.0 (anyone can ride this thing) surf style board with a quad fin just under you back foot provides all kinds a stability and wake grip. Feels like your hanging on a wall. Out of all my boards this one has the most drive (speed toward the boat). Its great for boats that have small pocket (not our Tiges). It just increases the sweet spot buy 3 feet! This is my wow board for the intermediate rider that looking to let go of the rope.

James Walker Inland surfer Flyboy division (is a rocket ship made for trick. This board will make you a better rider, boost big air and shoves all day long. Stable and it will break loose on a dime.

Don't forget about the kids, They can't get up and shred with just any old board. There experience hangs in the balance. Wakemakers makes custom boards that are priced not to break your wallet.

Then there is the Soulcraft Jetty, its hard to put this one into words so i won't.

There are a lot of amazing people putting out quality that not only improves your experience and the sport but keeps the evolution and change in motion. And I thank them for all there time and efforts!

When you get her all dialed in, find a dealership that has a demo program (CMS in Cal, me in Denver)
and as Jeff Walker says "Feet on Boards", Its the best way to find what work for you and your wake.

                enjoy

I'm in Oconomowoc. I just bought the boat this spring and have only been out on Okauchee lake, but I'm sure to be out on all the lakes around the area here. So many to choose from! I'll be sure to post some video of surfing next time out.

I almost got this. Was able to go wireless for about 10 seconds(my son didn't get those pics) I think I need more weight in the back surf side. Any advice on the pics would be appreciated.007.jpg
