    2012 West Coast Wakesurf Open

May 17-20th at Camp Far West in Wheatland, CA

One of the most talked about wakesurf events in the world is coming back for its third year, bigger and better than ever. The 2012 West Coast Wakesurf Open presented by Tigé Boats, Wake 9, and California Marine Sports will be held at Camp Far West Lake in Wheatland, CA on May 17th – May 20th featuring Pro and Amateur Competitions, Wakesurf Clinics, Boat Demos, and Board Demos.

The competition will be held Saturday May 19th and Sunday May 20th and will be pulled by the new 2012 Tigé Z3. The 2012 West Coast Wakesurf Open will be one of the greatest showcases of wakesurf talent as the sport’s top riders compete for their piece of the cash purse. There is over $9000 in cash to be awarded between the Open Mens Surf, Open Mens Skim, and Open Womens divisions paying down to 5th place ($1000, $750, $500, $250, $100). Also for the first time, there will be a $500 best trick bonus presented to the rider with the most progressive, jaw-dropping maneuver performed within their finals run for each Open division. Wake9 is providing a live broadcast so no matter where you are you can watch all the action.

Amateur competitions will also be featured including AM Mens, AM Womens, Masters (40 and over), Juniors (12 and under), and Tandem.

Last year we hosted a Wakesurf Clinic and it was a huge success. We are bringing it back for 2012, allowing 16 riders the chance to get advice from some of wakesurfing’s top pros. Four riders will spend two hours in the boat with their pro coach getting two 15 minute sets each. Between coaching from a pro rider and watching your peers, this is a great opportunity to take your riding to the next level.

For the past two years California Marine Sports has uprooted the world’s largest wakesurf shop and brought it to Camp Far West, giving wakesurfers the opportunity to demo and purchase the best boards on the planet. This year will be even bigger with a wider selection of boards from companies including Inland Surfer, Phase 5, Shred Stixx, Soulcraft, Calibrated, Victoria, Triple X, Liquid Force, and Walker Project.

New for 2012 is the addition of the greatest wakesurf boat demo of all time. The industry’s top manufacturers are bringing their best wakesurf boats so that riders can have the chance to test the wakes head to head. Nowhere else can you try the best wakesurf boards and boats all in one place.

You should try to make it!
we had people come from the east coast just for the board demos last year. There is no where else you can demo OR buy that many boards. And this year there is a boat demo too.

Sacremento, SFO, or Redding - Sacremento is closer, but depending on your departing city and the number of connections it may not be shortest from a time standpoint.

It's a pretty easy trek for me. Just over the hill. So long as its not snowing.

The web site leaves a bit to be desired. I'll have to look into it a bit more.
