Doesn't this just beg to be done with a wakesurf board?
It did NOT dry that quickly and I needed it to! There is a place in Denver that sells some different stuff for plexi/lexan that might be what you need: http://www.plasticareinc.com/
Those folks can laser cut the Lexan! I found this UV cure glue that dries clear. It's called See Cure. I could glue it all up, slide it into the vacuum bag and then take it outside into the sun.

LOL I want to ride it now! Ok, I think we have a plan. Tip of the hat to Timmy for his hollow concept. The skins will be full size surf board'ish shape. A center layer, that is say just 1/2" around the perimeter that creates trapped air space inside. Probably will need some type of support of the feet. I'd bet in that picture if that board floats, there is some support under the bindings. I think that design will work and allow it to float'ish or at least not sink too quickly. I'll get some of the stuff and try and experiment!
That's how science is, Timmy! LOLOLOL. Ok, I've got to swing by Lowes and get some test pieces and maybe some glue. If I can get a test panel to look "ok" and float, we're golden.
Sweet idea! I can imagine Chpthrill wiring up a waterproof battery pack to give it internal LED for night surfing too!
If you went the two-piece top/bottom construction route, it would be so easy to do a strip of LEDs around the inside. Then fix a 4 AAA battery holder to the tail of the deck.
If you go with a single sheet, then you router out a slot for a strip of LEDs, then epoxy them in.
I would also look at doing this out of acrylic. It comes in large sheets and a few different thicknesses. Dont know what it takes to bent it though.

The LED's would be fun I know the Acrylic was much cheaper, but the reference material said it was substantially weaker and chipped easier than Lexan. Is that not the case?
Wow this stuff is hard to work with. I don't have the clear glue that is recommended, so I just used some clear silicon. Each piece needs to be cut and then polished to keep it looking clear. The rough edges become clearly visible. Maybe the Laser cutting?
This test panel will just tell me if this thing will float while unattended. Nothing worse that having your wakesurf board sink
The test panel "cured" overnight. In short, the Lexan would float when flat, but would sink when put on edge. I remember something about that from high school physics with surface tension, right?
Anyway, with just a slight amount of air trapped in between, it would float back to the surface. Three sequence shots, floating, pushed underwater and back to the surface.
