Does it feel strong enough?

Can this be wakesurfed?

I think so. I can see the one issue with the honeycomb is that there is relatively little contact area between the carbon fiber skins and the honeycomb. I can imagine it's not a permanent structure. I'm pretty sure we can get a run or two out of it though.
The stiffness is pretty remarkable, though. It's more than just the carbon, the compound curves on the rails make it much stiffer than flat CF. I think some form of compound cure in teh structure is needed and more contact area for the skins to laminate to.
It'll be an interesting test!Buy my kid's board! http://www.flyboywakesurf.com

Are you ready? Well first off, flotation in a board doesn't mean SQUAT. This "board" had almost no float and there isn't a lick of foam in it. Thickness also doesn't mean squat, this "board" is 1/8th thick and with modern techniques and materials, it can withstand the forces of getting up on plane and surfing, at least for a little bit.
Now as for shape, that has a LOT to do with how a board rides and this thing has a crappy shape, being surfed upside down.
Here you go! Getting up on plane is where the greatest forces were placed on the "board"Buy my kid's board! http://www.flyboywakesurf.com

It survived that just fine. The "board" being upside down was slow as snot, but I was able to surf it for a bit. Without fins, or a sharp rail I couldn't keep it straight. So I'd just gradually spin sideways after a few seconds and then fall out.

That crazy rocking motion, I believe, is due to the board being 1/8th thick, like you projected knife-like sharp turning. I couldn't adjust to it, fat old fart that I am. But MAN OH MAN can you see the potential for aggressive wakesurfing going thinner. Not this thin, but thinner.
I think the thinnest I can go is 3/8". I have the materials on order, some CF, Nomex and glass on fins. I want to do a true sandwich construction, HD skins over the nomex core, but the two skins and the core are each 1/8th thick, so I'd be around 3/8ths at best.
I think, not sure just yet, but THINK I can build it so that it can be wakesurfed normally.Buy my kid's board! http://www.flyboywakesurf.com

I am so sorry that I offended you Chris and your brother and I shouldn't have been so insensitive. I, in fact, suffer from a spinal cord injury and in effect palsy and am fortunate that I can enjoy a number of things, but do poke fun of my own situation that others might find offensive.
My sincerest apologies for causing you and your family that distress.Buy my kid's board! http://www.flyboywakesurf.com

@ Nickypoo, so this is what's going in the bag tonight. The bottom skin is 1/8 Rohacell, then a layer of 2 oz Eglass, then 1/8 Nomex honeycomb. I'm deliberating on filling the honeycomb with an expanding polyurethane...so I'm holding off on attaching the deck skin, which I think will be 1/8 divinycell. So the total thickness is around 3/8" . We'll see!!!Attached FilesBuy my kid's board! http://www.flyboywakesurf.com

That thing is out of the bag this morning and it weighs 13.3 oz. It's not trimmed to the final outline so maybe there is 12 oz final weight in there. I think the deck skin and eglass will add 8 oz, so that would put the core at 20 oz. The exteror lamination, I believe will add 24 oz, so that's what 2 pounds 12 oz. Definately room for interior foam to fill in the honeycomb.Attached FilesBuy my kid's board! http://www.flyboywakesurf.com

I have to say that your reference to "palsy" was not only inappropriate, it was mean. Your ignorance is shocking. Was it your intention to make fun of "folks" with disabilities? You are fortunate that your health does not prevent you from participating in the sport that you love, and for you to make fun and tease those who can not is repulsive.

So, the shape. Is it basically the bottom of a Flyboy or whatever that "standard" shape is? I think 3lbs is as light as you would want a board. My board is just south of 5lbs with traction and fins and it is light as a feather. I've literally had the wind rip it out of my hands.
You must be pretty excited about the possibilities if you already have this one going which begs the question, what about fins?
Thanks for perusing this one. I can't wait to see how it does. You'll get your chance, smart guy.
