I was doing some looking at Hollow Wooden Surfboards (HWS) and found this picture of Thomas Blake from 1929. This was before fins were used and folks turned by dragging a leg in the water I always laugh because - I thought you could only FALL by doing that

These HWS's were predecessors of foam boards.
