James signature from Inland Surfer

I just got pictures from Jeff Page. The board is still in Thailand, but is on it's way to the USA. Ready to ride weight is just a shade over 5 pounds. Huge weight savings from prior IS's.

Very nice Surfdad! Will James ride the off the shelf version, a modified version with different pad or his current Flyboy model?

Personally my feet like arch bars I wonder if it is un-finished under the pad?

Are the fin boxes going to be strictly for Inland Surfer fins?

Has the price been released yet?

@ Majestic, we are working on NEXT years prototype, so most likely James will be riding THAT board, except for photoshoots. We should have one the prototype's (in the picture) next month.

If you look at the picture of the traction it does have an arch at the front and back. We haven't actually seen it, but Jeff P tried to incorporate it. I think that if James settles on this board, he'll swap out the traction, he loves the Beaker pad and arch. My guess is that the color/art work is a printed laminate and most likely is consistent even under the traction.

As you can see the fin boxes are the mini-tutle's that IS has been using for a few years now. You can also see that all 4 boxes are pointed straight ahead, which is consistent with previous models of IS boards. One of my biggest complaints of IS boards are that the fins had no toe or cant. This board will have fins with toe and cant, but the base will be vertical and straight ahead. The fin, however, will be canted and toed off the base.

THIS fin will be interchangeable with other IS boards, so it will give owners of those boards a higher performance option. SO, yes, it only will work with a straight mini-tutle box.

I'm not privy to the price structure, I'd bet that dealers have that info for pre-orders.

Glad to see they are starting to come off the assembly line, will they need to be special ordered for each one or will IS have an inventory and sell them on the website? I hope to try to buy or order one in the spring, will there be a 4'9" version?

@ Ewok - the first production run, I believe, is for 100 units. The first shipment is supposed to arrive 3/11/11 (at least according to Jeff P's facebook page ).

I know that some dealers have pre-ordered the board, so they'll have those in shops prior to May.

The larger version is in the works, probably in the 4'8" range as you suggested. I should be riding that prototype before spring. I don't see that being available from IS during '11 unless they love the prototype and there is a huge demand, otherwise I'd expect it to be included in the lineup in 2012.

I've unpacked it and it sure looks and feels close.

@ Majestic, the front pad has an arch built in, looks to be about 1/4" above the deck pad and is maybe 18" long. I'll try and get pictures of that this evening.

Someone, somewhere, asked about the graphics under the traction. I "assumed" the graphics were a laminate, but only the logo's seem to be laminates, the rest is painted! Not sure if the final production boards will be painted like that, though.

I'm trying to organize a day trip out on the boat tomorrow so that we can give it a test ride.
