    My new ride

I have been building a balsa wood composite sandwich wakesurf board. You can see the details of the wakesurf board build on the flyboy site.

Finally done! I'm taking it out tomorrow. It came out crazy light, all ready to ride it's 3 lbs 15 oz!

WOW! This was great fun. I don't know if it was the Balsa or the lack of weight, but it felt so alive!

That is very cool, although that photo would look more convincing if maybe Judy was holding it out like that. ;-)

The tail shape looks a bit different, how much of a difference did that make?

                How floaty is it?

The tail is basically the same, the wings are tucked in a little more - more like a "hip" than a wing. The tail block is sort of deceiving - the tail block is built up of sheets going widthwise. It's hard to see the shape with all those lines!

It doesn't have as much float as the FlyBoy, but it's fully 25% lighter, you could just toss it around like it was nothing. I don't know if the Balsa gave it a more "alive" feel or if it is the 25% weight reduction. Whatever it is, it was FUNNNNN.

There are people reading this, that think, 25% lighter, cool. But I have held the flyboy board, and to think 25% lighter, that is amazing to me. Put a tail on it, and some string, and call it a kite. Amazing.

Yeah - the balsa board is 3 pounds, 4 pounds with traction and fins. Super light.
