"Pearl" or "Pearling" comes from "Pearl Diving". Pearling is when the board goes nose down under water. Some boards have a tendency to do this. The yellow loogey with the box nose, for instance, was known for pearling. The IS Sweet Spot has gotten a rep for that also, but many have worked around it.
The JWSM may still pearl when riding too front heavy, but it isn't characterized by pearling, and I would say it is more forgiving in that area, yet still very responsive. We have 2 of those boards, and 4 of my kids have ridden them for almost a year, on top of many people we have let use that board behind my boat.
I should add that the TWP JWSM, is now called just the Signature Model, and not the James Walker Signature Model, since James has moved on to flyboy.
